Typical Case History.Q Fog Unit Installed 09/02/2011Mrs S is a heavy smoker and drinker as photo’s show she is also very careless with her cigarettes ends she is on our at risk register and will have a fire safety visit every 6 months and our control has been informed. The smoke detector is connected to Doncaster Central Call this would hopefully give an earlier alert should the system activate.

We have also supplied a second lot of flame retardant bedding and throws,The carpets have been replaced by laminate flooring to reduce the risk of ignition and to aid cleaning

Entering the lounge we found severe burns to the carpet in front of the chairs now covered with a new rug, extensive evidence of cigarettes left burning on furniture due to the length of the burn marks

A number of cigarettes found down gaps in chairs and on the floor these could go undetected and smoulder for several hours causing toxic fumes to be produced which are a major cause of fatalities in house fires

                     Q-Fog controls heat in three different ways.

The tiny droplets in the mist are very effective at absorbing radiant heat and thus they prevent additional heating of potential fuel

Small droplets are quickly evaporated by a fire. Heat that would have otherwise accelerated the fire is instead used to evaporate the water, effectively cooling the room

The larger droplets are not immediately evaporated but are able to penetrate the fire and come in contact with the hot fuel. These droplets wet the fuel surface, cooling it directly

After evaporation the steam pushes oxygen away from the fire. As most of the evaporation takes place in close proximity to the fire the oxygen concentration near the fire is significantly reduced.

Q-Fog also prevents additional oxygen reaching the fire.As water evaporates it increases its volume around 1700 times.

Shut Down procedure for Q fog system

Fixed to the wall at the side of the unit is the control switch

Green Light should be flashing in normal mode

To stop the activation press and hold down the button until the unit shuts down.

Then Red/green alternate flashing unit has activated and been shutdown manually

Unit will have to be reset by isolating electricity supply or using the manual reset inside the unit

This unit is the property of the Fire Service if it has activated Ring 999 to contact Fire Service Control

Ultra Guard Reset Procedure• To Enable the panel controls turn the Key

switch so that the arrow is pointing towards the front of the unit

• Press the Silence Button on the Panel (this will silence the internal sounder)

• Press the Reset Button on the Panel (this will stop the pump if running and carry out a full test illuminating the 5 lights on the panel indicating full reset).

• Once all the lights have extinguished return the key to the normal mode facing towards the bottom of the unit.
