THESIS:

DOWNTOWN LAFAYETTE IS MADE UP OF

DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES, AND THESE EXPERI

ENCES DEPEND ON LIGHT THAT DOES OR DOES

NOT EXIST. DIFFERENT STRATEGIES OF LIGHT

AFFECT THE QUALITY OF SPACE IN AN AREA

AND COMFORT.

LIGHT - ALSO CALLED LUMINOUS

ENERGY, AND/ OR RADIANT ENERGY, IS

A SOURCE THAT MAKES THINGS VISIBLE

OR AFFORDS ILLUMINATION: (ALL

COLORS DEPEND ON LIGHT).

-ILLUMINATION IS SUBSTANTIAL FOR PEOPLE TO

ABLE BE TO USE AND FUNCTION IN AND AROUND

A SPACE.

INTENT: to reduce pollution from construction activities by controlling soil erosion, waterway sedimentation, and airborne dust generation. collection areas are intended to divert construction and demotion debris from disposal in landfills and in incineratoins facilities. redirect recycle recov-ered resoures back to the manufacturing process and

reusable materials in appropiate sites.

Platform City5,900 offshore oil and gas platforms occupy the Gulf of Mexico. 2,300 of these platforms have been decommissioned and are no longer in operation.

These platforms are home to 2,098 acres of corals reefs, 49 species of

fish, and 200 species of birds. The reefs are being destroyed as a result of

oil companies having to remove their decommissioned platforms. It costs $3

to $5 million to remove an abandoned platform. These platforms could be

used as a place of inhabitation for coral reefs, sea creatures, migrating birds, researchers and oil spill first responders.
