Transcript of Popovic Architecture Portfolio
Architecture as an unfolding narrative is the conversation where
inspiration and exploration thrive.
Whether this dialogue focuses on graphic design, artistry, landscape
design, city planning, or architectural manifestations, I hope to
contribute my energy and abilities to such possibilities as an engaged
and dynamic young professional. Given the opportunity, I would be
excited to meet such challenges and visionary change as part of an
innovative team.
I want to be part of that conversation.

Land art is the binding factor of the site. Festivals and installations by local artists fill the landscape, connecting the various programs.
Farming encourages maintenance and education. Local business, schools, and other institutions are able to use the site as a source of revenue.
Personalized graves offer spiritual relief. Marker trees or standing stones act as gathering nodes in a uniquely spatial experience.

Spadina Elevation
Toronto is a place of cultural variety, defined by its people and environments. The existing site stands among a sleuth of identities, yet does not claim any one.
The Urban Collage looks to accommodate this variety by creating an engaging public realm and providing solidity to its shifting cultural character and program.
11
In order to increase foot traffic, the building frontage offers various shops, a cafe, and display windows for the art gallery. Widened sidewalks encourage pedestrians to linger, enter the central atrium, and enjoy the variety of program.

The atrium as the spine of public space allows for visual and sensory connections between programs to create a highly animated urban condition.
Perimeter balconies line each floor to allow for observation of the city and to access the sliding shading panels for lighting control.
Secondary communal gardens, catered to specific users, branch from the atrium as interstitial public living rooms.
13
In response to the urban growth and water shortage of Halton, Ontario, this project proposes the integration of sustainable water treatment as a founding element of city fabric while maintaining the feel of a small community.

Located outside the University of Waterloo School of Architecture's Melville Cafe, Strawscapes is a constructed landscape of 40 straw bales.
Inspired by the work of Dutch landscape architecture firm West 8, this installation looks use a local material, evocative of Cambridge agricultural heritage, to transform this inactive passageway into a more interactive, socially inviting space.

The Requiem Chair, created in conjunction with Wei Xue, is a tailored design that responds to the life of Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Jewish-Polish pianist that lived through the Holocaust of Warsaw in Poland, as portrayed by Adrien Brody in the 2002 film "The Pianist".
