The “carrot-andstick”- method

Carrot on the one hand representing the laws Bismarck installed which were in favour of the Social Democrats (state-supported insurance for sickness, accidents, and old age)

Stick on the other hand representing the pressure, oppression and the hostility towards the Social Democrats (=> Anti-Socialist Laws!).
