Latest Events:NPPC Showjumping & Novelties Day 23/5/10:

Thank you to all our judges and stewards in both rings. We will learn from this event and fine tune it to make it even better next year.

The day was very successful and profitable. Between the event and canteen, we estimate that the club has benefited $1500. It has been decided to purchase dressage arena piping, which we can use at our next event Dressage on Sunday 18th July 2010. And some new reference books for certificates

Results: We had several NPPC members competing in both novelties and showjumping. A few parents could also be seen.Congratulations to Blair Greenwood, who won the championship for his age group in novelties with his trusty mount Kate.Steven Lake (left below); our own president won the 75cm section with Skip. Congratulations to everyone that had a successful day. See you all at the Dressage Day!

Dahlia & Arts Parade 20/3/10:

May Rally at Malone Park 2/5/10:We had a great May rally held at Malone Park. We had Nancy Vaughan for Dressage, Ken Croser for Showjumping & Nicki Chalmers for Cross Country.

Attendance Cards:A reminder for anyone wanting to compete that they need to update their attendance card or they may be ineligible. If your card is held at the club and you want to compete in a pony club event you will need to ask for it. Cards to be lodged at gear check to be updated at each rally.

Pony Club Yards:Could members that use the yards please clean them out and put manure around trees so they are clean for the next user. Please also consider our neighbours next door.Club Meetings:

Don’t forget our club meetings are held on the Monday before each rally in our club room. We would love to see some new faces along with some new ideas. The meetings are listed on the calendar above.

Our next meeting will be on 28th June starting at 7.30pm

Uniform:As daylight savings has finished, we now encourage our riders to stop wearing the polo shirts and to wear shirts, ties and jumpers (woollen or polar fleece).*New order for woollen can be arranged if enough interest. See Glenda Wilson.

Rothackers Stock Feeds:We are preposing to put an order into Rothackers the Monday before pony club and have it delivered to PC grounds on the Friday for pick Friday or at rally.

Name Badges: (eg above)The Committee of our club has decided that our members and instructors should wear name badges to make it easier for all to get to know each other and make it easier for instructors to get to know our members. These badges will cost $10- each member and our parents are encouraged to get one also. Most of these badges have been given out so don’t forget to wear them.

New members need to pay an additional $10 for their name

Membership 2011:Membership fees $100 and forms must be paid and completed before you are able to ride at this July rally. To get cards for July competitions need payment June rally.

NPPC SJ & Novelties Day:A great turn up of members and families. Thank you to everyone who helped out to set up on Saturday and on Sunday throughout the day to be packed up at the end of a very long day.

Well Done Neangar Park!!

A Blonde Riding a Horse: A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse, unassisted, and the horse immediately springs into action... As it gallops along at its steady and rhythmic pace, the blonde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but despite her best efforts, slides down the horse's flanks. The horse continues to gallop along, seemingly oblivious to its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup. She is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground time and time again. As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune, Frank, the Woolworth's trolley boy, sees her dilemma and unplugs the horse.

Hints to Improve Your Horses Comfort in Cold Weather:Colder months can create problems such as falling body condition due to energy loss as body warmth from being radiated from the body.

Delectable Diet:* A diet based on good quality roughage such as chaff and hay, which provides more ‘heat of fermentation (70% energy as heat waste) than rains or oils.* A ‘warming’ energy top up with cooked grains such as boiled barley (20% energy as heat waste) or even a small amount of oats for paddocked horses (30% energy as heat waste) will help boost body warmth when fed with chaff and hay in the evening feed.

Robust Rugging:* A waterproof rug with a warm blanket lining is helpful to maintain warmth and comfort. The weight of a thin canvas rug will compact the hair coat in cold weather and increase the heat loss transfer to actually make the horse lose more heat and ‘feel’ the cold.

Compatible Companions:* Older horses especially benefit from the ‘social’ support of one or two companion horses when sheltering from cold conditions.

Snug Shelters:* A dry sheltered area, such as a soft shavings bed in a shelter shed facing away from the wind, will improve the comfort and help to dry the hooves in wet weather.* It’s important to provide access to shelters to reduce the chill factor of cold wind and rain during the winter months. Locate feed bins in a well drained area out of the wind, but avoid
