What are nanotechnology? Nanotechnology is the understanding
and control of matter at dimensions of roughly 1 to 100 nanometers.
A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter; a sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick.
By creating nanometer-scale structures, it is possible to control the fundamental properties of materials, without changing the materials' chemical compositions.

2.Optical properties:-.To achieve transparency, scattering must be minimized
. which means that the nanoparticles should be as small as possible
.while the index of refraction should remain as similar as possible to the matrix.
excellent use of nanoparticles in polymer nanocomposites is in controlling the index of refraction.

3.Other properties:-• Mechanical: increased modulus, strength, toughness, elongation (in some cases) • Chemical: improved solvent resistance, improved moisture resistance • Barrier: reduced oxygen, moisture transmission
