AirportThe Frederic Chopin International Airport islocated ten kilometres oustide Warsaw citycentre. Take bus number 175 to get to thecity centre, or Bus 188, which takes you tothe eastern quarters of Warsaw. A ticketcosts 2.80 Zl each way. Alternatively, youcan take a taxi outside the Arrival hall.Make sure you take a licensed taxi andbeware of private cabs, or you are almostcertain to be overcharged. A taxi ride takesroughly 20 minutes and will cost you about30 Zl. Ask the airport staff if you areunsure which taxi is licensed. Some of thebigger hotels also offer airport shuttleservices.

Public TransportThe local public transport system, operatedby Zarzad Transportu Miejskiego (ZTM),consists of trams, bus lines and oneunderground line. A single ticket costs 2.80Zl, while foreign students carrying aninternational ISIC card can obtain areduced ticket for 1.40 Zl. The undergoundline serves the area between the citycentre and the southern suburbs ofWarsaw. If you are planning a busy day ofsightseeing, get a Warsaw tourist card,which includes free entrance to the city’smuseums, free use of public transport and
various other doscounts. It costs 35 Zl for24 hours and 65 Zl for the 3-day ticket. Ifyou just need the transport, you may get a24-hour ticket, which is also valid for nightbuses, and costs 9 Zl (reduced 4.50 Zl).Other options include a 3-day city ticket(16 Zl, reduced 8 Zl) or a weekly city ticket(32 Zl, reduced 16 Zl).
