the gentle glides of the famous river Trent, our small, but highly successful business;

Pollyanna Vintage, exemplifies all that is magical about delicate fine English china.

We provide quality and authentic “mix and match” and colour themed vintage china

for hire, and supply unique props to create the perfect atmosphere for your special

event, be that your wedding day, summer garden party, village fete or classic

afternoon tea party. At your request, we can style your event to create an

atmosphere that is beautiful, elegant and truly unforgettable.

Sugar tongs are an essential component of the traditional English silver tea service. Dating back to the seventeenth century, it is a device designed to serve cubed sugar. Initially wrought from cast metal, sugar tongs were later crafted from sheet silver.

Queen Victoria liked garden tea parties, but did

not like little bugs in the milk jug. In order to

alleviate this problem, lace doilies, weighted down

with beads were the outcome. They are placed

over the "milk jug" to keep the unwanted items

out of the milk.

To keep tea pots hot after tea is first brewed, early English households employed

the tea cozy, a padded fabric covering, much like a hat, that slips over the tea pot.

Salt and Pepper Shakers have a long and rich history.

Before salt and pepper shakers as we know them today,

people in the Victorian era placed their salt in open

cellars. Salt came in rock form, and it had to be chipped

off to be put on food.

Ever since the ceremony of afternoon tea came into prominence in late Victorian times,

there has been a need for a way to display cakes at the table so that they can be easily

seen by guests. A cake stand draws attention to the cakes on offer by elevating the cakes

above other food on the table – so cake stands often have two or three tiers with a hooped

handle above for carrying.

Props/Accessories The French are generally attributed to have first uttered the quote “A meal without

wine is like a day without sunshine”, We would certainly endorse that, but would

also comment that a “party without props” is a parallel simile.

We love props, we’ve certainly got plenty! We are always looking at how we can

creatively style and dress an event to set a mood, a look, an ambience or create a

stunning display that just makes people smile.

Our collection of props and accessories includes hundreds of items. Vintage sporting

collections (perhaps used as homage to that bride or grooms childhood days), rustic

garden furniture as well as vintage suitcases, typewriters, vintage camera, a

selection of frames, birdcages, bunting as well as a vintage bicycle and much, much

We also have direct access to our French collectors who we work closely with, so

pastel coloured coffee pots and Parisian art prints are also available!

fabulous set out at weddings, anniversary celebrations, christenings and parties and

are fun to play. All prices include styling and set up, with the only additional

cost being delivery/collection at £0.40 per mile.

This beautiful traditional vintage croquet set comes in a wooden box lined with
