At our second annual Political Training Conference, the Manning Centre is pleased to feature the following agenda for this exciting training session: Ben Purkiss Ben Purkiss is an award-winning Creative Director at MPH and has been designing for various media for more than 11 years. As a founding director of MPH, he manages and directs corporate and political branding, layout and innovative marketing campaigns. Ben was one of the original lead designers that helped shape the brand of the 2006 federal Conservative Government and was instrumental in the design of the highly effective contrast pieces for direct mail that proved so successful during the subsequent 2008 and 2011 federal campaigns. In 2013, Ben turned his attention to designing for Republican candidates in the USA, working on dozens of successful Florida Primary races in the 2014 and 2016 campaigns. Direct Marketing: the Crucial Role of Direct Marketing in a Social Media World 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Chris Rougier Chris Rougier has been involved in data management, voter contact and direct mail for 12 years. He has worked on Parliament Hill as a Member’s Assistant, and as a key member of the Political Operations team for the Conservative Party of Canada from 2005-2012, responsible to voter contact and Target Seat Management, as well as being a key administrator of the CIMS database. Chris’s reputation as a political operative and data management expert have also led him to be involved in provincial election campaigns in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Chris is currently a Partner and Project Director at MPH, one of Canada’s leading political direct marketing firms.

Rebecca Thompson Rebecca left Parliament Hill in 2011 for the private sector, and managed large internal communication projects for Canadian Tire including a nation-wide company acquisition. In 2012, she joined the national TV channel, Sun News Network, as a political commentator and reporter covering Queen’s Park. She most recently ran her own communications and public affairs consulting company, Point Guard Communications and has frequently appeared as a commentator on radio talk shows.

William McBeath William McBeath has worked on more than fifty political campaigns across Canada at the municipal, provincial, and federal level. He held senior roles in Alberta’s Wildrose Party, including Campaign Director, and with Alberta’s Wildrose Caucus. He is presently engaged as Director of Training and Marketing for the Manning Centre - Canada’s premier conservative-oriented political training organization. He oversees curriculum, course, and program development, contract training, webinars, youth engagement and outreach, and other training initiatives.

Vincent Harris In just a short time, Vincent Harris has grown Harris Media to one the US’ top digital advocacy agencies with offices in Austin, Texas and Tallahassee, Florida. Vincent worked on the Presidential campaign of Governor Mike Huckabee in 2008, as New Media Director at the NRSC, and ran online operations for Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell in 2009. His team has raised millions online for clients and is often credited in the media for their creative work. After being brought on to run digital for Governor Perry’s Presidential race, Vincent was brought onto the campaign of Speaker Gingrich to run online advertising and digital strategy.
