a night reader’s

light blooms

through his curtains

his father’s army issued belt buckle

 bookmark 

this lifelong exhaustion

Circumspection

two bachelor  brothers still

drink coffee

at their 

mother’s house

sometimes

holidays and

funerals

One Thousand, One Hundred and Ten Miles Home for Dinner

he left his

 beaten shoes

 by the couch

galveston’s sand

still in the laces

train horn

eight siblings and a mother huddle around the television

americans, migratory

like salmon, they always return to the place of their birth.
