The Mermaid

Something mysterious beneath the wavesA legend that has been proved trueShe never sleeps, she never laysIn the ocean green and blue.

Page 8: Poems

A sailor searches, for it's his dutyHe hears a sound, but so far away.Wanting to see the creature's beautyHe rowed his boat up to the sandy bay.

Page 9: Poems

On the rock, he saw her hairAnd her graceful tail so long.He couldn't help, but just to stare And listen to her mesmerizing song.

Page 10: Poems

She turned around and then she smiledHer scales and eyes were blue. Her spirit was so free and wildAnd that made the moment true.

We are a riverFlowing, racing, and never stopping.Showing our love and never hidingEverlasting, never dying.

Ghost hands

Every day she looked through the foggy, glass windowEyes wide with wonder and small baby handsPressed on the cool surface gentlyImprints of her nose and fingers stayedLong after her mom dragged her away...

Page 15: Poems

Seasons changed, one melting into the otherAnd still she looked through the windowEven as her little feet became big onesBaby hands turned to adult handsShe still left foggy marks on the window..

Page 16: Poems

As her life went on and she went to schoolGained a happily ever afterHad two adorable bundles of joyShe still could not stay away from that windowand looked out at her past..

Page 17: Poems

One day, when that little girl Became an elderly womanA grandchild crawled up on her unsteady legsAnd she held her near the windowMemories and laughter started flooding back..

Page 18: Poems

And the very day that she passed awayHer grandchild held her son to the windowPressed on the cool surface gentlyImprints of his nose and fingers On that very same spot, against ghost hands..
