Problem• Again A Pizza, 8 Inches In Diameter, Will
Be Eaten By Seven Math Students, But Suppose That One 18-year-old Is Replaced By A 16 Year Old And The Number Of 9 Year Olds Remains The Same. If The Amount Of Pizza Eaten By A Student Is Directly Proportional To The Student’s Age, What Is The Difference Between The Number Of Square Inches Eaten By An 18-year-old In The First Problem And The Number Of Square Inches Eaten By An 18-year-old In The Second Problem?
Strategy – I Asked My Parents
Step One • My first Step was I had to find the
amount of sq. in of pizza that each 18-year-old ate in the first problem and my answer to that was 9.13914. The reason I did that was because in the problem what your supposed to find is the difference between the number of sq. in eaten by an 18-year-old in the 1st problem and the amount of sq. in eaten in the 2nd problem.
Step Two• My Second step was to find the area
of the pizza which I found on the 1st problem and was 16Π. But I estimated to find a decimal and got 50.26544 sq. in. A=π r2
A=π 4216 π=π 42
= 50.26544
Step 3• For My third step I added all the
ages of all the students. I did that because i needed to find the number that each student ate.
Step 4• For my fourth step I the divided
the area of the pizza between the age of all the kids ages put together. I did that to find the number of sq. in by age .
Step 5• For My fifth step I
multiplied .51820 by the age of the student. To find the number of sq. in that each student ate depending on their age..51820∗18=9.3276.51820∗16=8.2912.51820∗9=4.6638
Last Step• For my last step what I did was I
subtracted the number of sq. in that each 18-year-old ate from the second problem minus the number of sq. in that each 18-year-old ate and got .18846
My Final Answer• My final answer Is:
.18846
