Saint Michael Parish
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be
our defense against the wickedness and snares of the
devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do
thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of
God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Stewardship is based on the understanding that
all we have and all we are is a gift from God—
our time, our talent, our money and even the
gift of life itself. We show our gratitude for these
gifts by returning a portion of them back to
God.
When we consider our participation in
stewardship, we include our time and talent, as
well as our treasure. As with our Sacrificial
Giving of treasure, giving time and talent
expresses our gratitude to God, who has given
us these gifts.
Our prayerful gifts of time, talent and treasure
are concrete expressions of our faith—the way
we give glory to God.

Centering Prayer
Contact: Rosemary Barnhart
360-866-4768
Centering Prayer is one of the traditional prayer
pract ices that opens us to God’s gi f t of
contemplation. Our intention is just to be in God’s
loving, healing presence. The Contemplative
Community at St. Michael Parish prays twice a
week in the Chapel, offers silent retreats four times
a year, and offers introductions to Centering
Prayer. We invite all to learn about this silent,
healing prayer of relationship with our God.
Charismatic Prayer Group
Contact: Connie Smith 360-943-9767
Join us for Charismatic praise, worship, and music
as well as healing and intercessory prayer. We are
committed to fostering a personal experience of
Pentecost. We do this through the baptism of the
Holy Spirit, receiving and using Charismatic gifts,
commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord,
and developing a life of holiness in a Catholic
context of faith and practice. We meet every
Thursday from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM in the St. Joseph
Chapel. Active members attend as often as they
can; everyone is welcome to join us at any time
during the evening.
Art & Environment Committee
Contact: Joel Williams 753-4404
Do you enjoy working with flowers and plants?
Can you pound a nail, climb a ladder, or tie a
knot? Can you iron, paint, cut paper, or sew? Do
you draw, work with wood or metal, or just have a
sense of style? If not, would you be willing to assist
others who do? The Art and Environment
Committee welcomes anyone who would enjoy
showing their skills and talents to help us decorate
in ways that reflect the scriptures. Members help
plan and implement the enhancement of St.
Michael’s worship space. Time commitment varies
with each project.

Intercessors for Parish
Ministry
Contact: Becky Stoddard 360-292-7115
All that we do at St. Michael Parish is rooted in
prayer. Ministry Intercessors sustain and strengthen
our ministries with their prayer support. Intercessors
are contacted several times each year and are
asked to pray for special requests from our Parish
ministries at the time and place that is convenient
for them to pray. This is a wonderful ministry for
those who find it difficult to attend ministry
gatherings. A one year commitment is asked.
Eucharistic Adoration
Contact: Jeanne Wittman (360) 359-3872
Eucharistic adoration is meeting Jesus Christ face-
to-face in the Holy Eucharist (the Blessed
Sacrament). Adoration is an expression of our love
and a profession of our faith in Christ’s presence
now on earth. This is our opportunity to come
before Jesus to thank Him for His ultimate sacrifice
for our salvation, to share with Him our trials and
sufferings and to ask for His help and grace in our
lives. He waits patiently and lovingly for each of us
to come to Him. Give yourself the gift of spending
time with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Remember the
question Jesus asked His apostles, “Could you not
spend one hour with me (in prayer)?”. Adoration
takes place seven days a week, 24 hours per day,
in the Saint Joseph Chapel. Volunteers can
commit to adoration for one hour per week, one
or more hours per month or as a substitute.
Eucharistic Prayer Cenacle
Contact: Alice Janny 360-866-7340
The group prays the Fatima prayer, Rosary, Chaplet
of Divine Mercy, and other prayers. We engage in
group Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The
primary focus is prayer for the Holy Father and
priests and for encouragement of individual
Eucharistic Adoration. Meets every Thursday in the
St. Joseph Chapel at 11:00 AM .
Greeters and Ushers
Contact: Michelle Clinton 360-292-7111
The ministry of hospitality is an important reflection
of who we are as a parish community. Just like the
community, hospitality members are friendly,
caring, and welcoming. They greet and welcome
everyone who walks through our doors—those we
see every week and those coming for the first
time. They help usher for communion and find
seats on a crowded Sunday. They respond in
emergencies, open windows, close doors, assist in
taking up the Sunday offering, and hand out
bulletins after Mass. Commitment is approximately
90 minutes per Sunday. Great opportunity for
families! Training is provided.
Lector
Contact: Michelle Clinton 360-292-7111
Lectors proclaim God’s living Word on Sundays
and at special liturgies, approximately once a
month or at daily Mass once a week. Lectors also
lead the Prayer of the Faithful when a deacon is
not present. This ministry is available to active
confirmed parishioners who are Partners in the
Mission. Tryouts and training are required.
Extraordinary Minister of
Holy Communion during Mass
Contact: Michelle Clinton 360-292-7111
Extraordinary Ministers assist, with reverence and
dignity, in the distribution of the Eucharist at Mass.
This ministry is available to active, confirmed
parishioners who are Partners in the Mission.
Training session required.
Music Ministry
Contact: Lee Ann Scherman-Fralick
360-292-7140
St. Michael Parish has a long tradition of excellent
leadership and participation in the music at our
liturgies. There is always a need for cantors,
instrumentalists, and choir members. Choirs sing at
9:30 AM and 11:30 AM Masses Downtown, 8:30 AM
and 10:30 AM Westside. We also have a parish
Children’s Choir and a Life Teen Band. Cantors
proclaim the sung psalm at all Masses. Rehearsal
times vary according to the program.
Legion of Mary
Contact: Leigh Phillips 360-491-5708
Take this opportunity to enrich your spiritual life
and to serve your parish! The Legion of Mary is the
largest apostolic organization of lay people in the
Cathol ic Church. Members contr ibute to
community welfare in a balanced program of
prayer and service through Mary, Mother of the
Church. Meetings are held every Thursday at
10:00 AM.

Wedding Liturgy
Coordinator
Contact: Jennifer McCauley 360-292-7146
Do you love to attend weddings? This ministry
provides lots of opportunities! It is ideal for couples
who want to share time together while helping
others. Coordinators meet with engaged couples
to finalize preparations for their celebration of the
Sacrament of Marriage, direct the rehearsal, and
are present on the wedding day. Weddings are
assigned as your schedule permits. Training is
provided. You are welcome to apply for an
interview.
Sacristan
Contact: Michelle Clinton 360-292-7111
The Sacristan ensures that all preparation for Mass
is complete. They make certain that albs, linens,
candlesticks, etc. are clean and ready for Mass. A
qualified Sacristan has a love of the liturgy, an eye
for detail, and good people skills. About two hours
are needed to prepare and clean up before and
after Mass. Extra cleaning as needed. Must be a
Partner in the Mission and have previously served
as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
You are welcome to apply for an interview.
RCIA Team
Contact: Debs Pokos Dugan 360-292-7117
Those with experience as RCIA sponsors, who want
to be more fully engaged in this important ministry
often become team members and/or dismissal
catechists. Team members are a vital part of the
RCIA process. They meet with those who are new
to the RCIA process and help answer questions.
Some team members make presentations and
facilitate RCIA meetings. Others are "dismissal"
catechists, who lead the RCIA group in reflecting
upon the Mass and the readings . T ime
commitment varies by role. You are welcome to
apply for an interview.
RCIA Sponsor
Contact: Debs Pokos Dugan 360-292-7117
RCIA, or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is to
welcome those who are considering becoming
Roman Catholic and to prepare them for the
Sacraments and reception into the Church. Our
sponsors are compassionate, good listeners, and
love to share their faith with others. A sponsor
doesn’t need to be a Saint nor a theologian, just a
faithful and part icipat ing member of our
community who lives out his/her vocation as a
Christian and who models the practice of our
Roman Catholic belief and traditions. It is a
blessing to be a sponsor in the RCIA. You can
expect that your own faith will be deepened and
enriched by this journey.

PRAYER TO THE
HOLY SPIRIT
Breathe into me, Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.
Move in me, Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.
Strengthen me, Holy Spirit,
that I may defend all that is holy.
Protect me, Holy Spirit,
that I may always be holy.
Amen.
DISCERNER’S PRAYER
Holy One, you are the Good Shepherd
who fills the hungry with good things,
who spreads a table before us,
who fills our cups to overflowing,
who calls each of us by name
and leads us out.
Thank you for all of your gifts.
Today I am seeking to discern those
special gifts you have bestowed to make
me a channel of your love for others, and
to take these gifts up.
Open my eyes to your ways.
Tune my ears to your voice.
Teach me what is important for me to
know right now as I reflect on who I am
and the meaning of my life. Especially,
Lord, make the next step clear to me
and fire me with the desire to take it.
Amen.
STEWARDSHIP PRAYER
Creator God,
Life is your gift to me.
Through Baptism, you invite me to share
the gift of my life in service to others.
Be with me as I choose each day to show
Your Presence in our world.
Give me the courage and generosity to
respond to Your love, to Your call.
I pray especially for those who serve you
in ministry at St. Michael Parish.
May we bear the Good News to those
in need. Keep us close to you.
Open the minds and hearts of many
other men, women and young people
that they may accept Your challenge to
build the Kingdom at St. Michael Parish.
We ask this prayer
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
ST. AUGUSTINE
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gifts that
you have given me through the grace of your
Holy Spirit. Grant that by your guidance I may
discern how you want me to share my gifts of
time and talent in ministry and to build the
Kingdom at St. Michael Parish. Through the
power of your grace, I will gladly share my
gifts for the glory of your Son, our Lord Jesus
Christ. Amen.

(grades 6-8) work in food and clothing banks and
other outreach projects that serve our migrant
sisters and brothers of the Skagit Valley, during this

service, understand the importance of respecting
the rights and responsibilities of all people,
experience the richness of the Hispanic culture,
make new friends by developing and deepening
an awareness of our faith, and experiencing the
universality of our Catholic Church. We need
adults who are willing to share their faith and lead
our youth during this intense week of service as a
chaperone or driver. Also needed are adults to
help with prep work, by collecting donations and
being our “prayer warriors”, as we prepare and
while we are on mission. Training is provided as
