BUDGET
USACOE FY2017 BUDGET: STATISTICS$1.369 Billion under the FY’16 omnibus amountAPPA and AAPA disappointed in overall budget numbers for 2017O&M– is at one of highest levels ever but still under last yearLike all years, Sect. D’Arcy and General Bostick have been making their visits to House and Senate authorizers and appropriationsMuch better reviews than last year on the Chief’s report putting forward 30 projects for approval in 2016 with 30 in the appendix as opposed to 2015 with only 19 projects put forward and 95 in the appendixSmaller ports along the coast still underfunded, but 6 are included in the President’s budget requestThat said, Gen. Bostick told the Senate the other day that $19.7 billion is needed to complete only CURRENT projects.
USACOE BUDGET: GENERAL
FRUSTRATION“Irresponsible” “Infrastructure negligence”“Unhelpful at best”
FAA REAUTHORIZATION AND BUDGETCurrent law expires at the end of the monthBoth House and Senate going to be working on extensions this week because due to the upcoming Easter recess – real deadline is this Friday, March 18Looks like House will extend authority to July 15 w/taxing and revenue extended for a year – which could point to further extensionsSen. Commerce will markup a 2-year bill on Wednesday Supposed to have bipartisan support, with no ATC reform, goal to be on floor early April
