In 7 Kent, Robert Bautista has won the Jack Petchey award, an outstanding achievement considering he has been at Chiswick School for less than a year.

Robert won the award for taking part in several school events including the Spring Festival where he sang. He is also a member of School Council and will be a buddy for the new Year 6 pupils joining the school in September.

'I am a street dancer with the Ghost dance Troop', said Robert. 'I really want to help the whole school with the award and would like to put it towards more water fountains. I was really surprised when I won, but now I'm really proud of myself'.

Mr Harrington said ‘Robert is an excellent role model for the other year sevens and will make an outstanding buddy for the year sixes.’

Over the Jubilee Celebrations James Pavey along with 3 other cadets from the Richmond Unit took part in the Her Majesty the Queen's diamond ju-bilee river pageant. He was in boat 32 which was one of 52 other sea cadet new boats the Trinity 500.

The sea cadet floatilla was in a di-maond formation and escorted Her Majesty from Putney Bridge to Green-wich. Each sea cadet boat carried a commonwealth flag and Jame's boat was St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Sea cadets from all over the UK and exchange cadets from Hong Kong took part in this spectacular event.

They were sponsored by Suzuki and the boats were driven by a 2.5 hp (horsepower) outboard engine by Su-zuki, so everyone had special branded clothing for the event. They were on the river from 9:30am- 4:00pm through the sunshine, cold and rain. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for James and he said 'it was great to be part of such a massive event and I will remember that day for a long time.'

Louis Power and George Gers, Year 8 students leaders, were given the fan-tastic opportunity to be part of a panel alongside other students from across the Borough to take part in an inter-view panel for Hounslow’s new Direc-tor of Children’s and Adults’ Services.

On Tuesday June 18th both students attended an evening training session in which they learnt about the respon-sibilities of the Director and how the recruitment process works. Stephen Hutchinson, who organised the young people's panel said: 'Louis and George took on a difficult task with a positive attitude and a sense of humour. 'They were a credit to Chiswick School.'

A massive thank you to Louis and George for giving up their free time even missing the first half of the Eng-land match on Tuesday which both students so badly wanted to see. They both represented the school with true professionalism and commitment. Mrs izquierdoTickets on Sale Now!

On Thursday 14th June the Carne-gie Reading group enjoyed a party in the library during 2nd break. It was announced that the winning book of this years Carnegie med-al was A Monster Calls By Pat-rick Ness. This was not the book that most of our group had voted for; their favourite was Between Shades of Gray By Ruta Sepetys.
