• PMBOK 5th Edition – published in 2013
• PMBOK 6th Edition – to be published in 2017 (Q1)
The PMP Examination Content Outline IS Changing!
• The syllabus for our PMP exam
• The current version was published in 2010 with a revision in August of 2013
• The new version was published in 2015, and will be the outline/syllabus for the PMP exam effective January 12, 2016
Role Delineation Study (RDS)
• This keeps our exam content current, viable, and based on real-world practice
• Captures the perspectives of project management practitioners from all industries and regions
RDS Findings New Areas of Focus For the Modern Project Manager
• Inclusion of benefits analysis and realization
• Looking at risk management in terms of opportunity
• Placing more emphasis on stakeholder management plans and communication
• Additional focus on lessons learned
Comparing the 2010 and 2015 PMP Exam Content Outline
• 4 of the 5 domains have had tasks added (all but Closing)
• Task wording has changed throughout
• Executing – questions from this group will make up 31% of the exam (up from 30%)
• Closing – questions from this group will make up 7% of the exam (down from 8%)
