PM Writing Kindergarten Exemplars for Teaching Writing provides exemplars of, and an initial introduction to, the four text types commonly taught in the early years of school: Recount, Description, Information Report and Narrative.
The exemplars are presented over three double-page spreads:
Teacher Focus notes appear on each spread, featuring key teaching points and teacher talk related to the language features and text structure of the text type.
The interactive whiteboard CD found inside the front cover can be used on any interactive whiteboard, allowing teachers and students to interact with the pictures and text on each of the spreads in the book:
• Learning about Words screen – reveal pictures in sequence, move labels next to the appropriate items in the pictures and create new labels
• Learning about Sentences screen – reveal sentences in sequence, edit the text
• Learning More about Words and Sentences screen – edit text and use blue font to model how to add information to build a simple text.
