This allows flexibility in luminaire selection and installation. The integrated SPM includes solar panel(s), charge controller, gel battery(s), battery box, wire harness, and mounting bracket. The universal mounting bracket allows for the solar panel(s) to be mounted at either 45 degrees or 15 degrees. In this way, the unit optimizes the capture of the sun’s energy for a particular geographic location. The SPM is normally mounted above the luminaire facing south when north of the Equator (and faces north when south of the Equator), allowing the luminaire to face in any direction. Because the SPM is separate from the luminaire, the PM Series offers wide flexibility in lighting design. Solar panel protection with aluminum panel pans is available as an add-on option. Shaded by the solar panels, the rugged, vented aluminum battery box holds battery(s), controller and all interconnects. Entire structural assembly is specifically engineered for rugged environment and usage. Sturdy corrosive resistant aluminum and stainless steel hardware throughout. Typical five (5) day battery reserve in case of inclement weather. Maintenance free gel batteries. Standard models include either a Cobrahead or Shoebox fixture – cut off lens or drop lens. SOL INC. Worry-Free Performance Warranty(May 2004)

SOL INC. offers the longest warranties in the industry. SOL products are guaranteed to workas specified for five (5) years from the date the product is shipped from SOL’s factory. SOLwill provide a replacement part for any component that fails during the five years. Thewarranty does not cover any lamps, except SOL INC.’s Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps(see below). Batteries have a limited warranty (see below).

During the additional Warranty Period SOL will provide the replacement for any componentthat fails F.O.B. SOL factory. For third party products (vehicles, refrigerators, radios,television sets, pumps, water treatment systems, etc.) the original manufacturer’s warrantiesapply.

Warranties are subject to Purchaser using the equipment in the manner and for the purposefor which it was intended. The product must be installed properly, with no unauthorizedadjustments. The Purchaser shall select installation locations with full exposure to the sun.The solar panels must be free from shading. Damage caused by lightning strikes is notcovered. The use of electrical components not supplied by SOL voids any of the abovewarranties.

SOL reserves the right to substitute like or better components in its equipment to improveproduct to perform equally or better under the same guarantees.

Max-Lite Reflector Kits

Applications: The reflector is an important part of the fixture. The reflectors SOL uses in its standard fixtures have been specifically designed with computer aided techniques to optimize light distribution from our lamps. They will provide the greatest light output for any bulb we use including compact fluorescent and CCFL bulbs. Specifications: The reflector utilizes a unique pre-finished sheet material known as Alanod MIRO GP. The reflector material is made of premium grade aluminum substrate, with a highly reflective finish obtained by application of multi-layered vacuum deposition coating of vaporized metals and inorganic materials. The product has a reflectivity index of 95% (the highest available in the industry). The reflectors for each of our fixtures are specifically sized and shaped to the footprint of the lamp and the cavity size of the fixture, so as to deliver the maximum light intensity and uniform distribution. The combination of this highly reflective Alanod PVD coated aluminum and the custom design of the reflector results in maximum reflected light where it’s needed – on the ground below. In normal operating environments and from exposure to fluorescent lamp radiation, this material will not yellow or darken, reduce in reflectivity, craze/crack, chip, peel, or separate from the base aluminum. Poles & Wind Load Information

A solar light is most often installed in a public place, and there are important considerations whenever placing equipment that is accessible to the general public. The safety of the public must be assured. A solar lighting system can sometimes weigh up to 250 lbs. or more. The surface area of the solar panel array can reach 16 square feet or more, creating wind resistance. Formulas exist for calculating the wind load resistance of pole mounted equipment such as solar lighting. Rating exist for poles, based on the structural characteristics of the poles and their mountings, and the effective projected area (EPA) of the light system. All street light poles are rated to carry certain loads in winds up to the maximum as can be expected in the region where they are installed. Maps exist that show the required wind load speeds, in various regions. All outdoor lighting projects are carefully specified, using these wind load speeds, to insure the structural integrity in high winds of the poles and their mountings. Similarly, all solar lighting systems must meet these same wind load speed requirements. Not only the pole, but the solar panel array, battery box, structural brackets, and all mechanical connections and welds should be certified to withstand wind loads appropriate for the installation region. Because poles are such an integral component of any lighting project, certain care needs to be taken to ensure that the proper pole is chosen for each solar powered lighting system. The correct pole chosen to complement the solar powered system is determined by different factors including the fixture mounting height, the Effective Projected Area (EPA) and weight of the solar system, as well as the wind zone of the project location. Remember that the solar panels need to face south. If the orientation of the light is such that it will be on the same side as the solar panel array, please allow for an additional 3 to 4 feet on your pole height to maintain your fixture mounting height.
