Plumpton is a hidden gem in the world of horseracing. The thrill of Jump racing, the joy of a win, delicious food and drink, and stunning rural backdrop provide a memorable sporting experience for everyone from novice to racing expert.

Horseracing has been held in the lee of the South Downs at Plumpton since 1884, and through the years we have welcomed many of horseracing’s legends – both horse and human. You are likely to be rubbing shoulders with the UK’s top trainers and jockeys at Plumpton, and we are renowned as a nursery ground for many future equine stars.

We race 16 times a year between September and May, and with a track just over a mile round (one of the smallest in the country) we offer great viewing of the whole course. You feel as though you can almost touch the horses as they thunder past the winning post on each circuit. With a strong base of loyal supporters who are known for the volume of their enthusiastic cheers, a great atmosphere is guaranteed whenever you come racing here.

Plumpton Racecourse

We are independently owned and run by a team of racing enthusiasts. We are also passionate about our local and rural community and working primarily with Sussex based businesses; we employ from nearby villages and towns, offer the best of regional produce, and raise funds on charity racedays.

We have plenty of free parking on site, and a train station adjacent to the racecourse so you and your guests can enjoy a day at the races without the need to bring a car. London Victoria is less than an hour’s journey, and there are direct trains to Lewes (9 mins), Haywards Heath (10 mins), Gatwick Airport (24 mins) and Eastbourne (30 mins). We also offer a subsidised bus service from Brighton Station.

Horseracing and hospitality are natural partners. A day’s racing is ideal for entertaining, combining the thrills of sporting action with great opportunities to socialise, people watch, talk racing and share in all the colour and custom.

Whether you fancy a simple meal with friends or you’re planning a successful corporate event, from the moment of your enquiry we will give you a personal and tailored service, close attention to detail and very warm welcome on your arrival. We can also offer you a private tour of the boxes and the facilities before the raceday.

Hospitality at the races can be used to entertain loyal customers, see many of your clients in one venue, or thank a special client for placing a large order or standing by you during troubled times. The Director’s Suite is the ideal venue for a very special event, with a personal touch.

It offers an exclusive, private dining area situated on the roof top of the Sussex Standwith far reaching views of the track and the superb backdrop of the South Downs. You can indulge your clients or friends with a high quality and memorable experience. Our caterers will prepare a seasonal menu to suit your requirements, home cooked , and using local produce. Director’s Suite

The Hospitality Suites at Plumpton Racecourse enable you and your guests to enjoy all the atmosphere and excitement of a day at the races in style. We offer a choice of delicious and seasonally inspired menus, offering the best of Sussex produce and a comprehensive wine list. We also offer a “little persons” menu especially for our younger VIPs. The Suites are positioned overlooking the final furlong, and each has their own private viewing balcony and dedicated member of serving staff. They consist of a private dining room with a flat screen television. An exclusive tote betting facility is very close by, and the betting ring and parade ring are within easy reach.

Located on the lawns of Plumpton Racecourse, the Plumpton Pavilion marquee is a beautifully appointed structure that accommodates up to 350 guests. Through its window walls you get a great view of the last fence and final furlong, and to the South Downs beyond. It can be hired on an exclusive or shared basis on racedays, and is the ideal location for larger raceday hospitality groups and charity events.

The Paddock Restaurant and Marquee Restaurant are very popular choices for racegoers looking for a delicious meal, and a base for the day with stunning views.

The Paddock Restaurant is located on the first floor of the Sussex Stand, offering panoramic views of the parade ring and racetrack, whilst the Marquee Restaurant is alongside the final fence and last furlong, at the heart of the action.

Our top chefs create special seasonal menus for racegoers using the freshest ingredients including locally sourced meats, fruits and vegetables. We also offer an excellent wine menu with a wide range of styles and vintages.

A welcome drink, three course meal and a table for the day, is all included in the package price.
