Hello everyone,

I first and foremost wanted to thank everyone for a very successful meeting tonight. We definitely covered a lot, so I apologize ahead of time for the long minutes, but I promise you will find them helpful in becoming more involved with PLS.

During the meeting, several issues were touched upon. We went over a possible member-of-the-month option, having an open forum with the general body, listening to what everyone thought about it. While there are still some details to work on,we want your opinions on what you would like to see do the member-of-the-month.

We also spoke about an adopt-a-buddy idea with the general body and again we want your opinion. A big part of this would be how many people are interested in partaking in it so if so, please express your interest.

PLS traveled to the Miami Law Forum and it was very successful with several different things learned, specifically about financial aid.

PLS also has a newly revised calendar posted on Blackboard.

Although our first official social is around Halloween, during the meeting it was brought up that it would be a good idea for a get-together before then. If you have a good idea or really want to something specific, you should e-mail our vice-president Ivory ([email protected])

The month of September is also hunger awareness month, and to contribute to the effort to eradicate hunger in America, PLS is volunteering with America's Second Harvest of Tampa Bay with their food drive this Saturday. If you are interested in volunteering with the club, please e-mail me.

Also, we have a great opportunity for the members of PLS to leave a substantial mark on the organization. We would like your opinion in the process of coming up the design of our shirt. If you have ideas about a design, please e-mail them to us. We will also be having a poll about colors of the design going on Blackboard very soon.

Also, if you are interested in being a part of our public relations committee, email the head of PLS public relations Merline ([email protected])

We are also having LSAT study sessions on Sundays in the basement of the library. You will have to bring your own material, but the group allows for throwing around of questions with people that may have a different perspective than you.

Kristen Corpion, the president of mock trial club, came to the meeting to introduce the case studies that we are going to be doing throughout the year. She helped us with the case study by giving pointers for things to look for in the case studies, including the hyper sensitivity of wording and nuances of stories that may be otherwise overlooked.

We also elected a new treasurer. I want to congratulate Marshall Hall for winning the election today. Two more positions are still going to be voted on next week (vice-chair of Public Relations and Fundraising Director).

Last but not least, Don't forget to bring your CVs or resumes for the next meeting as we will have a workshop for improving them.
