Staff continue to not only recognize positive behaviour but also reinforce our school rules and remind students of the strict requirements for qualifying for the Big Day Out. We predict that the vast majority of students will reach this level. However, we also need parents and students to be fully aware that poor behaviour will preclude them from accessing this extra curricular activity. If you are concerned that your child has received a planning room note(s) and may be at risk of not reaching Gold Level please take the time to talk with them about ensuring that they do not make themselves ineligible for end of year activities due to repeated, poor behavioural choices. Library News Book Fair- Success A huge thank you to all the students and families who supported our Book Fair. It was an overwhelming success. The enthusiasm from the students from kinder-garten to Year 6 was lovely to see and we managed to achieve a commission of almost $1500 which will all go directly towards purchasing new books for the library col-lection and students to borrow. Author Visit – Matt Cosgrove Matt Cosgrove’s visit was enjoyed by students and teachers. He shared his journey to become a successful children’s author and illustrator and inspired many of us to become authors and illustrators. Below is an extract from an email I received from Matt after his visit. “Thank you so much for having me at Biddabah Public School on Tuesday. It was lovely to meet you and all the students. Thank you for making me feel so welcome, and a big thank you to the little girl who redrew Macca The Alpaca for me! I love it!!” Premier’s Reading Challenge The closing date for the Premier’s Reading Challenge is the 31

st August. Students in K-2 will have their challenge

books recorded for them and 3-6 students will be working on recording their lists in Library lessons over the next 2 weeks. If you have any problems recording your books, please see Mrs Barbour. Book Club Issue 5 will be handed out this week. This issue had been delayed from Scholastic due to the school Book Fairs being held this term. We will no longer be able to take any cash orders from issue 6 onwards and any money handed into the office will be sent home with students. Future orders will need to be ordered via the LOOP online. We apologise for any inconvenience. Mrs Barbour Library Teacher

Before we know it the 10

th of November will be here!!!!!

The committee has been busy planning a fun-filled afternoon for the community to make this our best Fete yet! Amusements and rides are bigger and better than before. We’ve also had lots of enquiries about stalls and activities. One of our most successful stalls, in the past, has been the Hamper Stall. Its success is largely due to the generous donations from our Biddabah families. As done previously, we have allocated each Year group with a theme for hampers. We are asking for donations (big or small) that can go towards making hamper baskets in the lead up to our Twilight Fete.

Themes are listed below. We greatly appreciate all contributions.

Kindergarten – Christmas decorations/items

Year 1- NEW baby items

Year 2 - gardening items

Year 3 - beauty/mens’ & womens’ toiletries

Year 4 - cooking/BBQ/tea/coffee

Year 5 - car/camping/sporting

Year 6 - beauty/mens’ & womens’ toiletries

Please send any donations for hampers to your child’s class teacher. If you have any baskets or gift boxes that would be suitable for the hampers, please send them in to Ms Minett. As part of our fete each Year group takes on the responsibility for running a stall. We ask for parent helpers on the day to assist with the stall associated with your child. A timesheet will be sent home closer to the date if you wish to nominate a time where you are able to help with the stall. Stalls run by each Year group, their parents & teaching staff on that Year group. Kindergarten - Lucky Jar – please donate a jar full of goodies!

Year 1 - Raffles - help sell tickets

Year 2 - Cakes - Please cook something delicious

Year 3 - Hampers + Photo Booth

Year 4 - Photo Booth + Quality Treasures

Year 5 - Chocolate Toss – please donate a block of chocolate closer to the date.

Look out for specials.

Year 6 - Portraits

Quality treasures stall- We are now accepting quality second hand items including pre-loved books, toys (NO stuffed toys), kitchen items, etc. for the quality treasures stall. Please send any donations to your child’s classroom.

Further details on stalls, activities, ride passes and performances will be forwarded in the coming weeks. We are looking forward to seeing you all at our Fete and thank you for supporting the P&C and our Biddabah Community.
