• Research has shown that over time the activity and effect of the gene against HIV-1 has become specific for species.

• Although humans have been developing a genetic defense over time against animal diseases, contrary to what happens against HIV-1.

• In 2012 the researchers were able to verify that the mechanism by which the gene acts against HIV-1 is by limiting its replication in its life cycle.

• In my opinion researches like this are of great importance, since in this case a cure or a method to treat HIV-1 is a disease that day by day kills hundreds of people. Also a starting point, which other researchers can use to discover other genes or the modification of these to combat other diseases that are a challenge for current medicine.

• At least a lesser expression of the TMEM108 gene and the protein it encodes, the smaller spines are created from a different tangerine so genuses that non-nerve transmission are not made in the proper way.

•Damage to the dentate gyrus of the hypothalamus or mutations in the gene may provoke problems in terms of spatial location, memory and learning.

• The expression of the gene reaches its maximum expression in the first years of life in human beings; A period in which an adequate mental development is of great importance.

• These kinds of discoveries give us new theories about what may be one of the causes of schizophrenia and possibly other degenerative and disabling psychiatric diseases; As well as giving us a guide on how to possibly get them treated through gene therapy .

UTILITY

• The identification of genes involved in diseases, allows scientists to seek new forms of treatment based on gene therapy.

•Although there are no medical tests to diagnose schizophrenia, in the future the identified gene can be used and at what level it is expressed in the person to help determine the possibility of the presence of schizophrenia.

• The research on the SLFN11 gene should continue, as it has not only shown that it can serve as a limiter of HIV-1, but also as a promoter of general defense against other viruses.
