November is a busy month. Daylight saving time ends on the 4th, causing dusk to come earlier for most of the country. Election Day is held on the 6th, and voters will make their choice for the next president. Tribute is paid to those who served our country on Veterans Day, observed on the 12th. Senior News VIRTUAL DEMENTIA TOUR The third session in a series on “Tak-ing Care of Your Loved Ones and Yourself “will take place on Tues-day, November 13th from 5 to 8 pm. You need not to have attended previ-ous sessions to partake in this one. The discussion will include a virtual dementia tour at the Oswego Sen-ior Center, 156 E. Washington St., Oswego. The 20 minute tour spon-sored by Linden Oaks at Edward will give a caregiver an insight on under-standing the behavior of someone with dementia. It will teach you how to create a positive environment by stimulating their dementia or Alzhei-mer's. Only by walking in their shoes, can you develop an eye toward what would make you comfortable if you



were the one with the disease. Height-ening your sensitivity will allow you to better cope and care. Education and training is the best way to help caregivers to provide better care.

Coroner Candidate Mike Dabney gives $700 check to Kendall County Food Pantry Press Release

The Kendall County Food Pantry Saturday received a surprise dona-tion from Citizens to Elect Mike Dabney – a check for $700.

Dabney, who is an Independent can-didate for Kendall County Coroner, handed the check to the Food Pan-try’s executive director, Maria Spa-eth, during a short ceremony at the pantry. The $700 was a little more than half the proceeds of $1,380 which the Citizens to Elect Dabney raised during a summer “Dine Like a Kendall County Elected Offi cial” raffl e that gave the winner four fi let mignon dinners at the Blackstone Bar & Grill in Yorkville. Ironically, Kendall County Board member Anne Vickery won the raffl e.

Dabney explained that originally he had intended to split the proceeds with Kendall County CASA (court appointed special advocates who aid juveniles going through the Kendall County Court system.)

“We decided to give the money to the Food Pantry instead a few weeks ago after we saw a letter to the edi-tor that talked about the dire need to help feed people who are strug-gling,” Dabney explained. “This money is much needed at the Pan-try and I think the people involved with CASA understand that greater need.”

Dabney said that before making the presentation to the Food Pantry, his campaign committee got in touch with the State Board of Elections to see if there were any problems with making a change.

“They said it wouldn’t be a problem, just so long as we give half the mon-ey to a charity, like we said we would do,” Dabney said.

“Maria Spaeth has said that for every $1 donated to the Pantry, her organization is able to leverage it to get $6 more worth of food,” Dabney said. “That would turn the $700 do-nation into $4,200 worth of buying power to help stock the Pantry. The Kendall County Food Pantry is do-ing an outstanding job in these hard times to help people in need and I am happy that my campaign organi-zation can do something to aid them. Every little bit helps.”
