Last Sunday we played Mt Evelyn at Gembrook. The boys started well and it was an even con-test with both teams playing good football. Mt Evelyn had three big boys who started to stand out as the game went on, and they end-ed up winning 3.11 to 1 behind, but our boys battled hard all day. It's been a hard start to the season for the boys as we’ve got seven new players in our team and we will play better football as we all get used to playing together. Keep working boys. Our best for the day were- Mitch, Kade, Curtis and Max. Well done guys!

ROUND 2 Hi everyone. We had our first home game of the year against Woori. We had a big build up all week as we knew they would be a tough outfit. We flew out of the box and had 3 goals on the board before they scored. Woori came back hard but we ended up having all the answers. Great win boys great team effort. Congrats to Rhys and Todd -100 games+ and Cole 50 games. Also well done to Todd for representing VIC/TAS in the kickstart national championships. ROUND 3 Last week saw a cold winters day at Gembrook. We were up against a strong opposi-tion and we knew we had to be switched on. Our midfield were in good touch and Will was dominating. It was a good tough match and we slowly got on top. We had a num-ber of injuries but in the true ANZAC spirit we showed a lot of fight. Gembrook came back well but we played the game out and recorded a tough victory. A big thankyou to Andy who has donated ANZAC Day Spirit medals to all teams. It could have gone to several players. Congrats to Cole for being awarded it on the day. Special mention to Toby, Charlie & Cole for playing outstanding games for the team while a little sore. Yours in footy Glen.

Round 2 saw us play Woori at home. The players approached this match as a must win
following a disappointing result the previous week. The players knew they were facing a taller opposition so wanted to prove to themselves that they could match it with taller opponents. With the inclusion of Luke and Tyson the team were able to have more of a presence and it showed in the overall effort of all players. There was also a noticeable improvement in the
encouragement that the whole team showed each other. Going forward we can see that there is room for improvement, and with the commitment shown by the players on Sunday we be-lieve they want to and can continue to improve. Thanks to all who supported the Doggie dinner.
Round 3 we travelled the long trip to Gembrook – Cockatoo senior ground. It was another wet and wintery day and the ground was definitely a lot bigger than the players are used to. We saw the return of Jack Staley which was a great addition to the team. The players went there with the confidence to get another win. They started strongly matching Gembrook’s skills across all areas of the ground. Unfortunately despite the player’s efforts they were not able to match Gembrook when they came out in the second half determined to win every contest to the ball. Congratulations to Mitch Dell for being awarded the oppositions best on ground medal.
Thanks to all the families who jumped in to assist despite the rain.
Coach John.
