Babies!

Balboa Park2514 6th Ave
San Diego, CA 92103
CMP is excited to sponsor The Black family as they March for Babieswith The March of Dimes on Saturday, April 29th in Balboa Park. The
March of Dimes organization funds researchers and scientistslooking for solutions to the biggest problems that threaten moms and
babies. They offer resources and information to mothers of babiesborn prematurely or fighting birth defects.
The Black family was grateful to information provided by The Marchof Dimes when their daughter Scarlett was born 12 weeks premature.
Calee Black, a teacher here at CMP was expected to give birth inDecember 2014. To her surprise, Scarlett was born in late September.
Luckily, Scarlett thrived and was able to join her family at home inearly December of that year. She is now a healthy and happy two-
year-old with no health issues thus far. Not all babies are asfortunate. Calee started the group, Scarlett's Squad to walk this year.
Many of our teachers and staff will be joining her
We have ordered purple CMP shirts and added "Scarlett's Squad" onthe back. If you are interested in walking or contributing to this
group, please RSVP to [email protected]. Anyonewho is interested in a t-shirt, we ask that you make a $15 minimum
donation to the March of Dimes via the followinglink: Http://marchforbabies.org/caleeblack

"Going into the year 2017 we had a vision of being more active in thecommunity, such as volunteering and donating to organizations close
to our hearts. We love San Diego and all that it has to offer. One ofour goals is to participate in the various beach clean ups. We love toinspire our students to become active members of the community
and thought it would be awesome to find a way to include CMP kidsand families in our cause. We pitched the idea to Arianne Condrick-Bettazzi, who was eager to jump on board and partner us with theright foundation to reach our goal. Please join us, with the help of
Swami's Surf Club, to clean Swami's Beach on Saturday, May 13 at 8a.m. Afterwards enjoy lunch provided by CMP & the Swami's Surf

5 Senses Activity
Our senses allow us to enjoy all things Spring. A beautiful sunny day,the smell of blooming flowers, the sound of birds chirping and thetaste of refreshing lemonade. We rely on our 5 senses to provide
information about the world around us.
Children may recognize the importance of their senses, but theydon't often focus on them individually. To help children
distinguish the differences between each sense try setting out 5different plates with materials that represent one or more senses.
Have your child touch, smell, and possibly taste each one andpractice which sense or senses go with each plate. To create more
of a challenge try blindfolding your child to create a sensory richexperience.
For great activity ideas please visit our Pinterest page.

Ask Ms. Viola P. Swamp, our Early Childhood Education Expert
My child has been talking about eggs hatching at school? Whator why is my child talking about watching eggs? Why does my
child want me to see eggs at school?
We are all very egg-cited about the chicks incubating in the Kinder-prep room! We're looking forward to hatching our own chickens to live in our soon- to- be completed
chicken coop, located above The Glenn. Not only is this a crackin’ good time, but raisingchickens from scratch is a rewarding and learning experience that all classrooms allparticipating in. Combining lessons of responsibility and science, hatching chicks at
preschool allows the children to learn about the incubation process, embryodevelopment, the miracle of “birth”, and ongoing chicken care. It’s no “yoke” that we areinvested in meeting the newest additions to the CMP family, that we have been observing
for the past few weeks. All of us will be flocking to take turns collecting eggs, andwatching our fine feathered friends grow into healthy and happy adult chickens. Thisegg-sperience will offer many learning opportunities for the children throughout theyear, from the egg-citment of hearing their first tiny peeps as they enter this world, to
watching our garden flourish with the added organic fertilizer.
If you have a question for Ms. Viola, please send an email to Ms.Viola Swamp.
