There are lots of videos on YouTube of the Spanish alphabet. I’ve included links to a few to give kids a variety. This is a good way for kids to hear how to pronounce the letters.

In this video, someone says each letter:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yZg9Atq4CM

In these videos, the alphabet is sung. The first is a little fast but would be fun to watch and sing with after practicing the other videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7R-QkOXgcUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MJbHmgaeDM

This has a marching beat with the alphabet:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpwbOz4eI4A

Feel free to find more videos and show those; a different video each day to review the alphabet could help keep kids interested.

TipsWhen I look up ASL signs, I enter the phrase I want and ASL. I then look for any links to the website Lifeprint.com and click on those. Dr. William Vicars has created an amazing site for ASL students, and I find the signs very helpful to increase movement in class. For example, to find out how to sign “good morning”, I entered “good morning asl” into google. I then saw this link for Lifeprint. At the bottom of the page is an explanation with pictures on how to say “good morning” in ASL.

After practicing the vocabulary with a little ASL and watching the videos, the best way to learn the greetings and introductions is to use them each day. Greet your kids at the beginning of the lesson with the appropriate greeting for the time of day. Then ask them ¿Cómo estás? and ¿Cómo te llamas?.

Try to use the greetings and farewells whenever possible (and in context) during the day.
