Transcript of Play Test 1 for Survive This
Items:
Families x 4
(Rich x 6, Poor x 6, Military x 6 and
Religious x 6)
Dice x 2
Normal Zombies x 36
Board x 1
Using the other zombies against the other families, get your
family home first.
• Each player starts with six family
members.
• Humans can move forward or sideways.
• Humans cannot move over each other
nor can they move diagonally.
• Zombies can only move in a forward
line.
• When a zombie gets to the outskirts,
they can reappear around the Helipad,
but only if there is a space available.
• Zombies cannot move over each other
nor can they move diagonally.
• When both dice are rolled, the zombie
dice must be executed first.
• For a zombie or a human to kill the
other, the zombie or human must land
exactly on that piece.
• If a zombie lands on a human, they
become infected.
• When infected, the player cannot move
that family piece, however, each other
player can move that piece as a zombie/
human hybrid. They attain both the
moves of that zombie type and human
moves.
• If a human lands on a zombie, they are
moved off of the board and collected.
• To disinfect a human, a member of that
family must land on them. They then
must go to the Helipad, where one will
reappear at home and the other
reappears on the board.
• The person is ‘immune’ while carrying
someone else
• The game continues until a person has all
family members home.
A player is designated to go first.
That player rolls both dice; A ‘human’ dice and a ‘zombie’ dice.
The player then moves the zombie piece for the allotted amount.
The player then moves the human piece for the allotted amount.
The dice goes around the board until the zombies are moving around the board as are the human pieces.
The players would use the zombies to kill the other player’s characters and ensure their family had better odds of all getting home first.
The game was interesting, but confusing.
The number of zombies ran out quick as there was no form of regeneration.
Once the zombies ran out, the game became a game of Patience
Throughout the first few rounds, the game had to be stopped so Michael
could explain why the players ‘can’t do that.’
Getting an immune character back to base took a long time if they were
rolling low numbers
What happens if someone is out of family members (all have been infected);
Their game is over
They now have two zombie rolls to make the game more difficult for other players
Players liked the game, (YAY!) but
found that they would have enjoyed the
game more if they had played it before and
did not have to keep stopping to have the
rules explained to them.
Once the zombies were gone, the fun was
gone.
Therefore… MORE ZOMBIES!!
Having played with the Undergrad girls and seeing most of the
basic rules play well together, we decided to add more depth to the
characters themselves.
Each family would now have modifications and some extra
elements on the boards as well as to each separate character.
We, as a group decided on which families got what changes.
We also decided that infected people could only stay in their colour
coded areas and the helipad area as otherwise it was literally
impossible to save them.
And that would be no fun!!!
