QUESTIONCan different types of
liquids affect plants growth?
PURPOSEThe purpose of this
investigation is to determine if different kinds of liquids affect plants growth.
HYPOTHESISI hypothesize that different
types of liquids will affect plants growth in different ways. For example, I believe that soda might make daisies grow.
PROCEDURE
MATERIALS• Daisies• Coke-A-Cola• Lemonade• Sprite• Ginger Ale
VARIABLESResponding : The health of the plant
Constant: The size of cup• Amount of cup• Type of flower- plant• Method of rating health of flower
DIRECTIONS1. Gather all materials2. Label one cup A, one cup B
one cup C one cup D one cup E
3. Fill cup A with Lemonade 4. Fill cup B with Coke-A –cola5. Fill cup C with Sprit
DIRECTIONS6. Fill cup D with Ginger-Ale7. Fill cup E with DR.PEPPER .8. Place one flower in each cup of liquid.9. After 1 day observe health of flower. Record a score for using a rating scale of 1 to 5 with I being healthy and 5 for being dead.10. Repeat step 2-9 for more trials.
HEALTH OF FLOWER LIQUID TRIAL 1 TRIAL 2 TRIAL 3 TRIAL 4 TRIAL 5 AVERAGE
A 1 1 5 5 5 3.4
B 1 1 1 5 5 2.6
C 1 1 1 5 5 2.6
D 1 1 1 5 5 2.6
E 1 1 1 5 5 2.6
RATING SCALE 1 = FLOWER VERY HEALTHY 5 = FLOWER DEAD
CONCLUSIONMy hypothesis was correct. Daisies can
grow in lemonade. The rating average for A- lemonade was 3.4 . The average for B-Coke-a- Cola was 2.6 . The average for C- Sprit e was 2.6 . The average for D - Ginger Ale was 2.6 . The average for water was 2.6 . If I were to do this again I would use pink lemonade because lemonade worked the best for daisies.
