What is the PlantPAx Library?
The PlantPAx Library is a predefined library of controller code (Add-On
Instructions), display elements (global objects), and faceplates that let you
quickly assemble large applications with proven strategies, rich
functionality, and known performance.
Step 1: Drop and
Configure AOI
Step 2: Drop global object
on display and assign
to AOI instance
Step 3: Access faceplate
from global object at runtime
for control and maintenance
The PlantPAx Library is supported through Rockwell Automation Technical Support as long
as the Add-On Instructions have not been modified from the original distribution.

What types of PlantPAx Library objects are contained in KB AID 62682?
KB AID 62682 contains:
• PlantPAx Library of Process Objects (begin with P_) which can be used
to develop applications to automate your process devices.
• PlantPAx Library of Logix Diagnostic Objects (begin with L_) which can
be used to collect and share diagnostic information from your Logix
program.
• Built-in Instruction faceplates and display objects which can be used in
conjunction with the Process Objects and provide a consistent look and
feel to your displays
PlantPAx Library Objects include comprehensive documentation

What do you need in order to use the PlantPAx Library?
The PlantPAx library consists of predefined application code for
RSLogix5000 and FactoryTalk View. The following table shows
compatibility with these products by PlantPAx library revision:

What are the differences between PlantPAx Library revisions?
• Different revisions of the library are released for:
– Additional library objects
– Revised functionality and features
– Different look-and-feel
• Changing PlantPAx Library revisions in existing applications is not
necessary; we will continue to support older revisions of the library
• You can’t mix and match revisions in a single application because there
are shared resources (i.e. AOI’s and Global Objects) for each revision as
well as look and feel differences in the faceplates and displays
• The Library is pre-built application code; not controller firmware or
system software. Updating PlantPAx Library revision on existing
applications requires careful planning; reviewing the PlantPAx Library
release notes would be the first step.
• New projects should use the latest revision of the PlantPAx Library

PlantPAx Library Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I am currently using PlantPAx Library revision 1.5 in my plant. I
would like to use one of the new objects revision 2.0. What should I
do?
A: Using two different revisions of the PlantPAx Library in a single
application is not supported. You may use the PlantPAx library 2.0 as a
guide to develop similar functionality in your application code without
breaking your existing objects.
Q: How do I get support for the PlantPAx Library?
A: If you experience technical issues with the PlantPAx Library, you can
call Rockwell technical support. Be sure to ask for PlantPAx support.
