Plantar Fasciitis | What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

PLANTAR FASCIITIS

• The plantar fascia provides a structural

reinforcement for the foot by maintaining the

arch of the foot.

• Plantar fasciitis is a painful condition that

affects the bottom or sole of the foot.

• It involves inflammation of a long band of

tissue that connects the heel to the toes.

• Repetitive stress to this tissue may cause

minor tearing, irritation and inflammation.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar Fasciitis | What are Common Symptoms?

Plantar Fasciitis | What are the Causes?

CAUSE: There are several reasons people develop

plantar fasciitis. Your Airrosti provider will perform a

thorough evaluation and identify the specific cause of

your foot pain.

KEY PLAYER: Tight lower leg muscles, excessive foot

pronation or supination creating unbalanced strains

within the plantar fascia. Standing too long, improper

shoes, foot muscle weakness, poor conditioning, recent

or longstanding weight gain, foot and ankle

immobilization, and many other things can contribute to

creating inflammation in the plantar fascia.
