Cell Membrane
Selectively permeable- A plant cell allows certain things to come through the cell membrane i.e. water, while blocking
other things from entering.
Mitochondria
• Transfers energy from organic compounds to ATP
• ATP – Adenosine Triphosphate– Transfers energy from chemical bonds to
energy absorbing reactions within the cell.
Cell OrganellesPSS.PP.2
“Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.”
Marie Curie
Now label the organelles
Major Organelles of the Plant Cellanswers
• Cell Wall 3
• Cell Membrane 2
• Chloroplasts 4
• Endoplasmic Reticulum 8
• Mitochondria 7
• Nucleus 6
• Nuclear Membrane 9
• Vacuole 5
• Cytoplasm 1
PSS.4.HO
•Contains the DNA and manages most of the functions of the plant•Cell membrane is selectively permeable in order to allow nutrients and other material in.•Stores enzymes and waste products•Contain chlorophyll and is the location where photosynthesis occurs.
•Transfers energy from organic compounds to ATP
•Surrounds the nucleus
•The region of the cell between the cell membrane and the nucleus•Supports and protects the cell
•Where proteins are created from the DNA
PSS.5.HO
Question #2
Extend through the cell membrane exposing it both to the outside and inside of the membrane. This allows the integral proteins to act as transport channels.
Question #4
• Has a polar and nonpolar end. The polar end likes water and the nonpolar end hates water.
Question #5
• Are located on both the interior surface and the exterior surface of the cell membrane, they are linked to lipids or other proteins.
