•Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Agraria (SENASA) is the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation agency and technical authority encharged of the animal and plant health protection, organic production and food safety in Peru.
• Prevention, control and eradication of animal and plant pests that represents risk to the life or health to the people, animal and the preservation of plants. • Fostering and improving the sanitary or phytosanitary conditions for the developing of the agricultural exportations, in order to increase the market Access to the peruvian agricultural products with and apropriate level of protection. • On behalf of the Peruvian goverment, SENASA participates in sanitary and phytosanitary technical international negociations.

• DEFINITION Clasification of plants, plant products and other regulated ítems, in reference to its potentional to move pests considering its level of processing or its intended use.
El SENASA with the Directoral Resolution N° 0002-2012-AG-SENASA-DSV establishes five (5) risk categories: CRF 1 to CRF 5

• Following the recomendation of the OIE and the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement of the WTO, SENASA certifies the sanitary coditions or the exported animal products.
• The sanitary export certification is subscribed after the follow of the sanitary requirements that were tablished by the importing sanitary Authorities and their specific regulations.

• The World Animal Health Organización - OIE acknowledges Peru because of its sanitary status in :
• Foot and mouth disease (Free Fiebre Aftosa)
• Avian influenza (Free)
• EEB “mad cow disease” (negligible risk)
• Horse viral arteritis (Free)
• Muermo (Free)
• Durina (Free)
• These conditions fosters and garanties the exportations of animals and animal products, without risk to diseminate diseases.
