PROBLEM DESCRIPTION & MARKET NEED

• Depending on weather conditions productivity of grain crops in the world varies on years on 25 % and more, and world reserves of a grain - 60 %;

• Stability of plants to abiotic (soil, climate, weather) and biotic (biological components of agrarian ecological system) stresses of an environment - the most infrequent category in flora;

• Increase of stability of agricultural crops to ecological stresses is included since 1977 in the list of the major problems of the National Academy of the USA.

1. INSTABILITY

• The world has changed cardinally, cost of energy rises, change of technologies No-Till.

• Entry into WTO and competitiveness.

• Ukraine and Russia have natural resources which are of interest of the global capital. According to information of the United Nations they are estimated in 30,0 trillion US $.

Natural resources of the USA - 8 trln. $China - 6,5 trln. $Europe - 0,5 trln. $

3. PROSPECTS

• Transient world reserves of wheat next marketing year will be descend to the lowest level and will amount 119 million tons;

• Forecast of the International Grain Council (IGC): world wheat production in 2006-2007 will amount 594 million tons;

• Use of the Ukrainian plant growth regulators on 10 % of world fields of a winter wheat (22,4 million ha) would allow to receive in addition 11 million tons of a grain at the cost of 1320 million $.

• Today in Ukraine use of growth regulators amount 1 million ha.

STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT

• Complex research of the mechanism of physiological action and of physical, chemical and toxicological properties was conducted.

• The technologies of production and application of PGRs in agriculture and forestry were developed.

• The new PGRs were registered in Ukraine (12 items), Republic of Belarus (6), Russia (1), Kazakhstan (4) and Germany.

• The pilot production of new PGRs was created.

Page 14: PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS FOR AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY STCU-NATO Workshop From Science to Business 11-12 October 2006, Kyiv Dr. Serhiy Ponomarenko Tel.:

ADVANTAGES

• PGRs are characterized by high efficiency, low doses of using (10-20 ml per 1 ton of seed or 1 hectare of sowing) and ecological safety (1 m2 of sowing gets 1·10-9 g of active substance).

• The technologies of their application coincide with existing agromethods.

• The harvest of the basic agricultures is increased on 15-20 % and the quality of plant products is improved.

Page 15: PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS FOR AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY STCU-NATO Workshop From Science to Business 11-12 October 2006, Kyiv Dr. Serhiy Ponomarenko Tel.:

• Joint treatment of seed with PGRs and pesticides allows to reduce the doses of sowing pesticides on 20-30 % without lowering of the protective effect.

• New PGRs decrease the contents of radionuclides, ions of heavy metals and nitrates in agricultural products.

• Our PGRs have antimutagenic effect.

• The cost of dose per 1 hectare is $ 2.5-5.0. Putting $ 1 in technology is repaid by $ 20-25 of additional agricultural products.

ADVANTAGES

Page 16: PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS FOR AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY STCU-NATO Workshop From Science to Business 11-12 October 2006, Kyiv Dr. Serhiy Ponomarenko Tel.:

EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS

PGRs used for pre-sowing treatment of seeds in doses 10-20 ml per 1 ton and for sprinkling of crops in doses 10-20 ml per 1 hectare

Their application costs 2.5-5 $ US per 1 hectare.

Application of growth regulators makes possible to improve quality of agricultures and to get additional harvest (tons/ha):

We have taken knowledge from the Nature and have created ecologically safe plant growth regulators. And now we want to help the Nature with our technologies.

WHY IT BECAME POSSIBLE?

Dependence DOSE - EFFICACYhelp us to create composition formulation for different plants and technologies
