Digital Graphic Narrative Planning

Use this booklet to help structure your planning and collate your planning documents.

Considerations:

There are lots of things to consider in this project. Fill out each section in detail to show you have thought about each one. You should imagine that this is a live project, so considerations like cost, quantity and codes of practice must be thought about in that context rather than just as a college project.

Costs:I don’t have any costs to consider because they have already provided it for me.

Available resources:The resources that I have used are the Mac, paper, PhotoShop and pens, pencil and the internet and images.

Quantity:The quantity that I would consider to make would be special edition because I have made it my own and I would like a number of people to own in instead of lots of people. This will make the book more interesting to them and other people because they don’t have the book so more and more people would want to read it.

Audience and Target MarketThe audience that are going to read my book are 7-11 years old but they aren’t just the audience because the parents who are going to read it to them are also the audience so there ages would be between the ages of 20 plus.

Quality Factors:I can make sure my work is as high quality of detail by not getting distracted this will mean that I don’t have my full concentration on my work which will mean that I wont get it completed for the deadline that it has to be done for.

Codes of Practice:The code of practice is relevant because the author wants to follow these rules because you want to be paid fairly.

Regulation:I don’t have to apply to any regulations because I don’t have a toy in my book But the regulation states that if you do have a toy in your book it must be safe in which it doesn't hurt the child or the child can't get hurt by the toy.

Copyright:I have no copyright sources because I coloured them over the top of the image and used the images as a bottom format so that I could have the layout of the image. I also did one Rotoscope over an image. I don’t have any copyright issues because I have written the book myself which I haven’t used it from another book.

Ethical Issues:Some ethical issues that I might have with my book are cultural sensitivity because I have a happy ending instead of a sad or scary one. Another one would be discrimination because I don’t have any other race in my book.

Resources:A successful project relies on good planning. Considering all the resources you will need for a project and then assessing which you already have and which you need will help ensure you are ready to start your project.

If there is a resource you don’t currently have, then consider how you are going to get it before you go in to production.

Resource:Do you have it? What do you need to do to get it?

The first resource would be Mac  Yes I do

 Internet  Yes I do

 PhotoShop  Yes I do

 Paper  Yes I do

 Images  Yes I do

 Pens, pencil  Yes I do

Production Schedule:Delivering your project on time is vital. In order to do this, you need a solid plan of action. This will help you divide up your work in to manageable chunks to be tackled one at a time. It will also allow you to plan which tasks need to be done in which order. It will also allow you to track your progress each day. If you are falling behind, you will need to modify the way you work. If you work faster than expected, you can clearly see what the next steps you need to take are.

Each session is a half day of college.

Health and safety:Your health and safety and that of those around you is very important. Just like in industry, an accident could prevent you from working. Whilst we don’t work in a highly dangerous environment, there are still risks. Some are short term, such as trips and spillages whilst others, such as long term damage to eyesight or back problems, may affect you much later in life.

Consider the risks based on the activities you will be undertaking during the project. Explain how you could prevent them from happening.

Ensure you reference appropriate pieces of legislation, design to protect people at work.

Health and Safety Issue How can you prevent it?

The health and safety issues that I would have would be that people’s bags would be in the way and people might trip over them including myself.

i can prevent this by putting the bags out of reach or under the table.

Another health and safety issue would e wires if someone is working then they might have other wires and people might trip or they could fall out the plug and cause sparks.

I could prevent this by not having wires from a certain distance so that the wires aren’t hanging from places.

Another health and safety issue would be if someone spilt a drink over the computers.

Not to have any type of drink on the computer table or in reach of the computer. For example put it in your bag.
