PRoCeSSiNg SeRviCeSYou can take advantage of our full panel processing services at ADP STORE FIXTURES. This can take a lot of hassle out of the shopfitting experience.

Here are some of the ways that we can assist you to make your next project more streamlined and efficient:

Cut to SiZe SeRviCe • We can accurately cut panels to your specified sizes with

aluminium inserts to suit and deliver direct to site. This

eliminates the OH & S issues that arise from processing on

site and save a lot of mess and dust in existing shops. We

currently cut panels in our facility and ship around the country

to arrive at your destination all ready to assemble.

Slatwall iNStallatioN guideThe following information is a basic guide for installing slatwall.

Please note, slatwall is a wood-based product and susceptible to expansion & contraction when exposed to different temperatures & moisture levels.

Panels should be stored flat in dry conditions and should be allowed to acclimatize to the environment where they will be installed for at least 48 hours

prior to installation.

Please take care in manual handling as each slatwall board weighs approximately 40kg. Care should be taken in handling not to damage the groove

edges when sliding panels over each other and not to damages the edges of the panel, which will result in the panel surface becoming chipped.

FiXiNg metHodSThe following are the most common fixing methods:

• direct fix to existing walls – this is generally fine for plasterboard stud-framed walls, where the panels can be fixed directly into the studs/wall-

framing.

• direct fix to framework – slatwall panels can be fixed directly into steel or timber stud framework without any need for plasterboard sheeting.

Where the joins on the sheets don’t come on a stud, the join in the panels can be fitted with “back-blocks” – MDF/timber strips that can be

screwed onto the back of the panel across the join.

• Batten – fixed – this is our preferred method of fixing for masonry walls and takes up any discrepancies in the wall that make the panels difficult to

fit. We supply wither 18mm MDF or 70 x 35mm pine battens. This allows for spacing from the wall so that the panel can continue over structural

members or electrical conduits.

PaNel edgiNg • Pre-cut panels can be assembled and edged with 2mm

PVC edging.

alumiNium SPlit BatteN mouNtiNg• Smaller pre-cut panels can be fitted with our aluminium split

batten extrusion to allow for easy on-site wall fixing.

alumiNium CaPPiNg • Panels can be assembled to your specified size and capped

with our Aluminium ‘U’ channel with mitred corners.


Slatwall

CuttiNg PaNelS oN-SiteIf you are cutting the panels on site using a portable circular saw or a jigsaw, do all of the marking & cutting from the back to avoid damaging

the face of the panel. Slatwall panels can be cut with standard woodworking tools – a TCT saw blade with a negative rake allows you to cut the

aluminium inserts in the panel.

Calculate the wall length so that you can put the cut edge into the corner first and then place the adjacent panel over the top of the cut edge.

Alternatively, if a cut edge is on the end, you can cover up with our aluminium ‘U’ channel.

iNStallatioN• Fixing battens into masonry – use minimum 50mm long Green wall plugs, requiring a 6.0 – 6.5mm diameter masonry drill bit, depending on

the hardness of the wall. The length of screw will need to be approximately 50mm longer than the thickness of the batten. Screw through the

batten and into wall plug. Plan your layout so that the joins in the slatwall panels always comes on the centre of a batten.

• Battens must be fixed at maximum spacings of 600mm. Heavier merchandise may require closer batten spacing.

• When installing panels one above the other, always fix the bottom panel first, making sure it is perfectly level. Check the floor level and ensure

that you have some spacing at the bottom of the panel to allow for floor discrepancies.

there are 2 main methods of fixing panels to the battens:

1) Fixing through the aluminium insert – this provides the strongest

fixing but the visibility of screws on the aluminium detract from

the overall appearance of the panel.

To use this method, slide inserts into the slatwall panel and drill

5.5mm diameter holes into the aluminium inserts to line up with

the battens. Fix onto the batten with 28mm countersunk chipboard

screws (zinc-plated)

2) Fixing through the groove of the slatwall panel and then sliding

the aluminium insert into the panel once fixed onto the wall. This

is not quite as strong but is a lot simpler method and looks a

whole lot better. Here are some things to bear in mind with this

method:

i) You can only do this where you have the length to slide an insert

into the end of the panel. In corners, you must revert back to

Method 1.

ii) It is a lot harder to remove the panel from the wall as the screws

are concealed – this may be a consideration in temporary or

pop-up locations.

To use this method, simply screw straight through the panel groove

using 28mm countersunk chipboard screws. The head of the

screw must be flush with the back of the groove (to allow the insert

to slide in) but not recessed too much into the board, which will

weaken the fixing.

• Number of fixings per panel – we recommend 5 fixings across

the length of the sheet (i.e. at each end and 600mm centres

in between) and in every second groove.

• We recommend starting with random lengths of aluminium so

that the inserts protrude from the end of the sheet. This allows

for panels to be easily aligned when fixing and makes the

panel joint much less visible.

• Lightweight and easy to assemble - only requires 1 man installation.

that may be powdercoated in a whole range of colours to your specification.

• The extruded section provides a more seamless finish without the visible distraction of different coloured inserts in the grooves on a

timber panel.

The single thickness 18mm panels are grooved on both sides and

framed in a rigid aluminium frame for maximum strength.

merchandising requirements.

Centre panels supported by aluminium frame on heavy-duty swivel casters concealed in a plinth base. (Units can be ordered without casters for use in

fixed positions).

Choose from a simple double-sided display or add end panels to provide maximum merchandising capacity. End panels can be at the end of the unit

or recessed to allow for a base shelf at the end.

Units can be supplied fully assemble for local delivery or supplied in flat-pack form for easy assembly at destination.

Available in all ADP standard colours and can be manufactured in any selected board finish.

• Basic unit includes the following:

• Melamine base shelf with plinth surround.

• Steel support structure underneath with heavy-duty casters (Available without

casters as an option).
