Plagiarism

Stealing another person’s written work, or even their ideas, is illegal.

You might be asking yourself, “Can ideas really be stolen?” The answer is yes.

Plagiarism.org puts it this way, “The expression of original ideas is considered intellectual property, and is protected by copyright laws, just like original inventions.”

So what do we call it when a person’s work or ideas are stolen and used without credit being given to the “inventor”?

How to Avoid Plagiarism

When you use someone’s work, you need to cite your sources.

Citing a source is like giving credit where credit is due.

There are different forms of citation: MLA, APA, Chicago, and Turabian.
