The Promoters

The House of Jaipurias is a recognized name in the industrial world. Led by Mr. Sharad Jaipuria, their industrial group,

Ginni International, is the leader in the field of textile exports. Their success in this field is due largely to their ability to

evolve and adopt latest technological and managerial innovations. The group has ventured into setting up hydro-power

plants in Himachal Pradesh. The same philosophy of staying abreast with the latest developments in the management field

is applied by the promoters to the running of Jaipuria Institute of Management.

A Degree College named “Seth Anandram Jaipuria College”, founded by Seth Anandram Jaipuria Trust in 1945 atCalcutta, is now a flourishing and famous centre of excellence in Post-Graduate Education. Its opening ceremony was

done by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India. On completing its track record of 50

years of excellent performance in academics and extracurricular activities, the college celebrated on 10th

September 1995, its golden jubilee. At present the college has a successful track record of 63 years and more than

7000 students are studying there. The House of Jaipuria has an excellent record of efficiently running

educational institutions of repute catering to the needs of different cross-section of students. These include

senior secondary schools at Kanpur and Lucknow and B-schools at Lucknow, Noida and Jaipur.

 JIM was established fulfilling all the norms regarding academic, financial, and social aspects set

by concerned statutory bodies. The Institute conducts two year full-time PGDM (equivalent

to MBA), PGDM (Retail Management), PGDM (Financial Services) and a three yearpart-time PGDM course (for working executives), equivalent to MBA and approved

by All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of HRD (Govt. of India).

Its modern campus at the prime location of Gomti Nagar has state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities in IT, fully

computerized air-conditioned library connected with DelNet (Developing Library Network, New Delhi) with more than

6,000 reference books and more than 100 national and international journals, air-conditioned and fully equipped

conference hall and classrooms, media and psychology labs, indoor and outdoor sports facilities and a swimming pool

besides separate hostels for girls and boys. JIM Lucknow is led by Prof. S. Chakraborty.

 Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur commenced its academic life with admissions to its foundation batch of two-year

full time PGDM 2006-08 with dual specialization in Finance, HR, Marketing, Information Management, Retail,

Operations, and Strategic Management. It is an approved Institution by All India Council for Technical Education,

Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is located in the prime Bambala Institutional Area of 

Sanganer—just 4 km away from the Jaipur Airport. Its modern campus built on a plot of 5.12 acres has state-of-the-art

infrastructure facilities in IT, fully automated air-conditioned library connected with Del-Net and EBSCO, and fully

 Jaipuria Institute of Management, NOIDA

 JIM, NOIDA commenced its academic programmes in 2004 with the offering of AICTE approved

MBA course affiliated to U P Technical University, Lucknow, besides other courses and a select number of Conferences

and MDPs. Its flagship programme, the AICTE approved two-year full time Postgraduate Programme in Management ison offer since 2006 with dual specialization in Finance, HR, Marketing, International Business, and Information

Technology. Its other prestigious AICTE approved two year full time courses are: PGDM (Services) and PGDM

(Marketing). Developed with the objective to "Groom Managers for the Global World", the vision of the programmes is

to build world-class professionals committed to creative value enhancement, service mindedness, business leadership,

entrepreneurial orientation and societal consciousness.

The Institute has a pool of experienced full time faculty who are sound academics and functional specialists. It also draws

in corporate managers and proven academics as its visiting and guest faculty. It is in the making of a services sector

management specialist Institute.

The students at JIM NOIDA learn the latest and modern management concepts, imparted additionally with sensitized

socio-economic realities of the environment. A blend of our traditional ethos with contemporary advancements in

management is the main thrust of the Institute.Dr. J D Singh, Director, JIM, NOIDA, who brings with him over three decades of management teaching, training,

consultancy and research experience, heads the Institute. He served as a full time faculty at XLRI, IIM-Bangalore, ASCI-

Hyderabad and IMI, and also contributed as a summer teaching faculty to McGill University, Montreal. He was a short-

term UNDP fellow in International Management Education and also worked as a visiting ODA (now DFID, British

Government) scholar with Manchester Business School.

 Infrastructure The Campus

The Institute spread over four acres of the prime

institutional area is located in NOIDA close to New Delhi. It

has an aesthetically designed and elegantly built campus

furnished with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The campus

has an ambiance that motivates students to grow as an enlightened

human. The air-conditioned academic complex consists of faculty offices,

well equipped theatre style and classic lecture halls, an auditorium, two

floors of library and three computer labs. A beautiful lawn, a large green

central court and an open-air amphitheatre contribute immensely to providing

a stimulating learning environment in the campus. In short, modernity,

aesthetics and simplicity characterize the campus.

Classrooms

 Naturally lighted large airy classrooms with a structure having high ceilings and largecorridors are designed to promote maximum interaction between the faculty and the

students. The air-conditioned classrooms are well equipped with a PC, LCD, OHP and

LAN connectivity. Both the theatre style and classic classrooms are furnished with

specially designed desks for the learning comfort of students.

Computer Labs

 JIM NOIDA is a wired campus with 24 x 7; 1MB Radio link Internet connectivity. It has

more than 240 IBM P-IV PCs and latest generation of high end servers, laser printers and

scanners. It has a well-established and well-equipped central computing facility housed in

three computer labs. Apart from a host of routine and special

software, the computer labs have the latest operating systems such

as Windows 2003 Server and Red Hat Linux ES 3.0 at the Serverlevel and Windows XP Professional OS at the client level. Data

base level includes Oracle 9i, MS SQL Servers. It also has a

Linux base web and mail server solution to protect the IT set

up from malicious mails and activities. The Institute

regularly invests in upgrading and expanding its

computing facilities.

Library and Resource Centre(LRC)

The LRC is the hub for the library and

information services in the Institute. It serves

as a creative and innovative player insupporting the teaching, learning,

scholarship and research activities of the

Institute. The library building spread over

two floors has an idyllic setting.

areas through its fast growing core collection of around 7000 volumes. The library also receives around 120 journals and

magazines which cover broad spectrum of Institute's thrust areas. Important local, regional and national dailies in English

and Hindi are also an important part of Newspaper section of the LRC. The LRC collection is growing rapidly and we

hope to add two to three thousands unique titles every year. The LRC is doing its best efforts to give quality services to its

users by using the state-of-the-art facilities.

Electronic ResourcesThe Institute subscribes to Business Source Premier of EBSCO, which permits speedy retrieval of contents of around 8600+

online journals on various functional areas of management. Apart from this aggregator's specialised product, various CD

and DVD ROMs are being subscribed by the library to facilitate its users. With the help of Developing Library Network

(DELNET) the user of the library can exploit the collection and services offered by DELNET and its member institutions

in India and abroad. DELNET provides access to more than 7 lakh bibliographical records in its Databases

created/upgraded from time to time on its system for general use. Being a member of Management and Library Network

(MANLIBNET) and Delhi Library Association (DLA), LRC follows best practices of other prominent libraries.

The LRC operations and services are fully computerised using LibSys software, catalogue of the holdings is available 24x7

through Web OPAC for online access at http://171.21.220.6:8080/jopacv06/html/.

Digital Library

The Digital Library (DL@JIM-NOIDA) blends collection of research articles, case studies, reports, peer-reviewed literature,

working papers and news clippings (viewpoints, opinions and news about the Institute) in all thrust areas of the Institute

in digital and audio/video formats. It is also working as an institutional repository for the Institute. The LRC has been

using open source software to facilitate the user to retrieve and explore this collection of scholarly literature with

interactive search facilities. The LRC is moving towards an outstanding knowledge centre catering all information needs

of its users.

In nutshell JIM LRC is heading towards 'Virtual Library' with interactive mode dissemination of scholarly information to

its users. It is also becoming an outstanding knowledge centre catering all information needs of its users. With commitment

to excellence in services, LRC offers quality information resources and innovative services to support the teaching,

research and lifelong learning needs of JIM, NOIDA community.

Hostel

The Institute has an aesthetically built and fully furnished

modern hostel facility for women students within the

campus. The residence facility for men students is available

in an Institute leased hostel located in close proximity to

the Institute. Maximum Occupancy in Girls Hostel is 105

and 160 in Boys Hostel. These Hostels are well-furnished,

have 24x7 security arrangements and carry a moderately

equipped gym, common room with television, 24 hrs

internet facility, indoor games, mess, power backups, and 24

hrs hot and cold water supply.

Cafeteria

The campus has a modern cafeteria well-furnished to cater

to students' taste. Besides beverages and snacks, it has a

provision for serving meals to day boarding students as well.

Medical Facility

First aid facilities are available in the campus. The Institute

has an arrangement for Doctor in Campus on specified days

and time.

Educational Loans

The Institute assists students in getting educational loans

from banks. Punjab National Bank facilitates EducationLoan to the students through its “VIDYA LAKSHYA

PURTI YOJNA”.

 Managerial Grooming 

Personality Development

To assist students fit in the Global Corporate Culture, the Institute lays special emphasis on

personality grooming through presentations, public speaking, mock interviews, aptitude tests andindustry interactions. JIM NOIDA arranges guest lecture from corporate professionals on weekly basis. This

helps students to develop capacity for analysis and judgment, ability to relate to managerial problems and draw

upon their own resources for better understanding and meaningful action. Students, therefore, are groomed to

join the industry not as a mere job earner, but to influence its practices, and in the long run become an active

participant in reshaping the nation's destiny. To facilitate the process, the Institute provides for a mentoring

programme and also organizes a range of activities throughout the year under its various cells and clubs.

Mentoring and Counselling

The Institute's mentoring programme aims to provide professional and objective advice and information service to all

students to smoothen their entry to the corporate world. It offers confidential support to students in any matter that causes

concern such as anxiety, stress, etc. About 15 students are attached to each faculty member who acts as their mentor andcounselor throughout the duration of the programme.

Cultural Cell

This cell trains students to dissolve their different cultural and regional identities to give rise to the unique JIM culture

where they learn the importance and harmony amidst diversity. The students are engaged in managing cultural as well as

corporate events.

Infrastructure Cell

Here, the students get an opportunity to learn the importance of TQM (Total Quality Management). They also learn

about the management of workplace environment and its effect of efficacy on human mind. The students in this Cell

maintain and manage the basic infrastructure facilities as well as the decor of the Institute and constantly strive to improve

upon them.

Sports Cell

To promote student interests in game and sports, the Sports

Committee organizes sports meet once a year and different

matches and tournaments are held throughout the year.

The Campus has facilities for indoor and outdoor sports—

TT, carrom, volleyball, cricket, and football.

Corporate Resource Cell

The Institute organizes a lecture series wherein eminent

persons are invited to speak on topics of current public

interest. Various seminars and conferences are organized to

further facilitate accomplishment of the purpose. Besides,

students are encouraged to take up live research projects

and to participate in various national/international seminars and conferences that are held in the NCR besides being

nominated to various events organized by other B-schools in India.

E-Cell

The Entrepreneurship Cell at JIM, NOIDA in association with National Entrepreneurship network (NEN) firmly believes

that emerging economies like India need the drive and innovation of young entrepreneurs. The Cell therefore aims at

manifesting the latent entrepreneurial spirit of the youth. The Cell motivates the youth to start-up their own enterprise.

The E-cell at JIM, NOIDA organizes various kinds of activities all round the year to promote entrepreneurship among

budding entrepreneurs. For the last one year, JIM, NOIDA's E-cell, has been inspiring entrepreneurship in thousands of 

young minds through E-week celebrations like business plan competitions, lectures and workshops, seminars and much

more. This year we have planned many events including EDP in association with MSME.

Clubs

The students of the Institute have set up three clubs to

encourage debates as well as dissemination of new

knowledge in the specialized areas of their interest. These

clubs known as the "Finance Club", "Marketing Club" and

"Talent Club" encourage students to have a hands-on

experience on how events are organized besides furthering

their knowledge base.

Cultural Cell

The Management Festival: UDAAN

This annual management festival of the Institute, organized

by students, provides for a number of innovative and

competitive events and contests. A large number of students

from other B-schools participate in it every year. Industry-

academic interface on a contemporary subject is an integral

part of the festival.

Centers of Advanced Studies andResearch

With the objective to serve the industry and academia

through creation, development and dissemination of 

knowledge and its applications through education, training,

research and consultancy, the Institute has set up the

following five Centers of Advanced Studies & Research:

1. Center of Insurance & Risk Management

2. Center of Integrated Communications

3. Center of Societal Management

4. Center of Management in Emerging Economies

5. Centre of Public Health Management

Besides developing course of studies and identifying areas of 

research, some of the initiatives undertaken by these

Centers have included hosting National Conferences on the

theme of "Indian Insurance Industry-The Marketing

Challenge", "Rural Insurance" and National Conferences on

"Changing Media Content", "Below-the-Line Marketing,

Management Challenges of Emerging Economies", "Women

Entrepreneurship: Opportunities and Challenges", "GreenBusiness: Agenda for Action 2008", and a student contest on

"Making Media More Employable".

Seminars, Conferencesand Workshops

Committed in its endeavour to bridging the

academia-industry network, the Institute is

currently organizing a series of guest lectures on the

theme of "The Changing Challenge". The purpose of theseries is to bring to the fore the contemporary issues and

debate about their implications for national economic

development and effective management. During the last three

years the Institute has organized nine national level Conferences on

the themes of: "Indian Insurance Industry—The Marketing Challenge"; 

"Rural Insurance"; "Changing Media Content", "Below-the-Line 

Marketing", "Management Challenges Emerging Economies: Past, Present 

and Future", "Green Business—Benefits, Challenges & Opportunities",

"Mining Gold at the Bottom of the Pyramid", “Green Business: Agenda for 

Action" and "Opportunities & Challenges in Emerging Markets: Focus on Asia".

In addition, several workshops including a three day workshop on "Data

Warehousing and Data Mining", One day workshop on "Mall Management— 

Biggest Challenge in India's Retail Industry", one day SME Workshop in

collaboration with AIMA and NMA on "Management Skills to Source Financing 

and Management of Technologies", a one day Case Study workshop-cum-competition,

and four half-day seminars/panel discussions on the themes "Making of a Global 

Manager", "Emerging India: Leveraging Service as India's USP", "India Poised—The 

Talent Perspective", Two Day Seminar on "Wealth Management", Seminar on "Women

Entrepreneur: Opportunities & Challenges", a panel discussion on "Challenges,

Opportunities and Problems faced by Young Entrepreneurs" and a two-day Summit along

with All India Management Association on "Services Marketing"  are some of the

initiatives taken to forge Institute—Industry linkages. HR Fest fetched much

participation both from industry and academia. A four day MDP on "Advances inInventory Management" held in July 2008.

Convocation

The 2nd Convocation and Prize Distribution

Ceremony was held on 10th April 2008. The

Convocation witnessed 58 students of PGDM and 62

students of MBA programme of UPTU graduating out of 

the Institute. The graduate students received their

diplomas and degrees from Shri Sharad Jaipuria,

Chairman of the Institute. The awards for academic

brilliance were given by Shri. S.K. Roongta,

Chairman Steel Authority of India, Chief 

Guest for the occasion. The Chief Guest

while congratulating the graduating

students and prize winners gave them

important mantras of success in career

and life. He emphasized that besides

succeeding in their respective careers,

students should become good

corporate citizens of the world by

contributing to the development and

uplift of the not so fortunate. Wishing

them success in all their pursuits heasked them to focus, enjoy and get

involved in all they do.
