Congratulations to all of our staff
who are celebrating anniversaries
this month!
Ms. Maura: 3 years
July Employee of the Month
Congratulations to Ms. Ken-
dra, our July employee of the
month. Ms. Kendra’s fellow
teachers nominated her say-
ing that “she is always kind
and has a positive attitude.
She is always in uniform and
she is great with the kids.”
Another teacher said that “she always gives
100% and has grown so much as a teacher since
she has started working here.” We agree with
your co-teachers, Ms. Kendra! We love you and
are so glad you joined our team here at Pitts Bap-
tist Child Development Center. We appreciate
your smile and positive personality. You love the
children in your care and are always looking for
new ideas to make you the best teacher you can
be!
The CDC will
be closed
Friday, August
25 for our
Fall Teacher Work Day
& Open House.
Sandals and flip flops are fun
to wear in the summer
months, but they are not safe
for our playgrounds. Children
spend a large portion of their
day at our
Center
playing, and
to ensure
their safety,
they must
be wearing closed-toe shoes.
Please reserve your sandals or
flip flops for during Water
Play on Thursdays.

In June, we kicked off summer in a big way. We had a picnic week as well as explored an ocean theme. We discovered all the fun things we love about summer. Our class loved VBS week too, where we learned how God made everything around us. In July, we will celebrate Independence day with lots of red, white and blue fun. We will also explore the beach and camping. If you haven’t yet brought in family pictures, please do so, so we can
finish up our family wall.
June flew by in a flash! We explored nature and all the things God created for us. We talked about different types of pets and discovered all the colors of the rainbow. We enjoyed taking a trip to space during vacation bible school and learning about all the things God created for us. During July, we plan to talk about freedom and fireworks. We are to take a pretend vacation to the beach and play with all the creatures of the sea. We will also be learning about Jonah and the whale. Don’t
forget to take your child’s blanket home to wash on Fridays.
Last month included lots of art activities as usual. We did Ziploc bag painting, made flower baskets, colored rice art, painted with feathers and flowers, and had many find and seek adventures. The toddlers are doing so well learning all of the colors and shapes! We also learned the signs for fun, big and love. This month, we are going to be learning about all the things God made. We plan on having wacky week and color week in the coming weeks. We will have colored sensory place, exploring a different color each week. We are planning to learn the signs for : moon, night, day and animals. We will continue to work on all our shapes and colors with new and
exciting adventures such as hide and seek and “what shape is behind that color?”.
June was a great month for our Twos. We thanked God for water, talked about a lot of fun zoo animals, made some great father’s day crafts, and also had a great week of vacation bible school. As we go into July, we will have fun celebrating the birth of our country. We’re also planning for a great week of under the sea fun. This month, we’ll spend some time learning about making friends and how to be a kind friend. We’ll reinforce sharing, being helpful, and being a leader. Please check your child’s cubby to ensure that we have an extra change of
clothes for them. Also, don’t forget to apply sunscreen in the mornings before school.
In June, we enjoyed being able to participate in VBS activities. We learned about how God created us and the things around us for a purpose. In July, we will be doing many art and sensory activities surrounding the topic of Independence Day. We will also do activities about the beach and all of the different animals that we find there. We will also learn about foods and how it is important to put healthy things in our bodies. Parent reminders: Please remember to bring in a swimsuit and towel for water play on Thursdays,
remember to check your folder, and please label your child’s bottle (not just the lid) with your child’s full name and date.

Last month we learned about all the flying transportation. We explored our colors and ended the month with a fun week of Vacation Bible School. This month, we will dive into our fairy tale and camping weeks. We will explore far off places and will have a camp out. We will learn what to pack when we go camping and about the special foods we get to eat. We will also get to have a special story time in a tent. Please remember that child needs closed-toe shoes for the playground.
Last month, we learned that nighttime can be fun and we should never be afraid of the dark. God planned for nighttime during His creation. We also explored different modes of travel and learned how important transportation is. During our theme for discovering summer, the children will learn that long ago there were no church buildings in some places and that church was often held outside. Summer is a time when children can spend more time outdoors. Play encourages children to figure out how things work, solve problems, communicate and share ideas with peers. We will be discussing things that grow in gardens and planting seeds in the classroom. We will also pick and eat veg-gies from our garden here at school. As a reminder, please send your child to school in their water play clothes each
Thursday and check your child’s cubby for food, drinks, and dishes that need to be removed daily.
Graduation was a highlight of the month of course. It was a much anticipated event and we were all excited once the day finally arrived. We can all agree that the children did an amazing job! During VBS week, we explored the universe. We focused on the bible verse, Genesis 2:19, God made every kind of animal and bird. We discussed the rain forest, the great outdoors, and well as fresh fruits and veggies throughout the month. This month, we plan to learn about Independence day, explore amusement parks, and discuss what we do on vacation days. We’ll be exploring some fun ocean facts, play many fun games as usual, and hear some sea life stories. Please check that your child has a complete change of clothes in their cubby. Even our rising kindergarteners have occasional
accidents and make a mess from time to time. We need an alternative change of clothes during those times.
School-Age
Summer Camp is off to an awesome start! We had a blast learning about outer space and enjoyed having the Summer Bible Club visit us. We finished off the month of June playing our favorite reality game shows. Our Chopped challenge was a hit as usual and the kids enjoyed a shopping cart relay game. July is also packed full of awesome games, activities and special service projects. We are excited about all of these events but also working on team work, problem solving and how each of us are role models in our lives. Please continue to check the field trip calendars, so you can be prepared for our fun adventures. Wearing or bringing tennis shoes is important for participation in our fun games and activities. Also, keep
in mind that we are having water play each Thursday that we are not away for a field trip.
