Amber It was meant to be a present for his estranged daughter – a desperate, last gasp attempt to turn back the clock and repair eight years of missed birthdays. But when Mickey’s van collides with stranger Kathy’s car on an empty country road, his fragile cargo – a prototype time machine stolen from the government lab he was meant to be decorating - is irreparably damaged. Now, with everything within a five-mile radius of the accident slowing to a dead stop and only minutes left before they too are frozen forever, Kathy attempts to help the non-communicative thief back into his childs affections with a last minute phone call… Science Fiction. Monkey C Lab technician Jez Neville’s been assisting secretive scientist Professor Ernest Doncaster for several weeks now on the great man’s self-proclaimed ‘revolutionary’ experiment. And he, like everyone else, has no idea what it’s about. Squirreled away in a facility that’s more fortress than laboratory, with no one but the secretive Doncaster and a single test monkey called Sammy for company, an exhausted Jez compiles test readings under a constant barrage of protests from the unseen activists outside. When the unearthing of unintelligible graffiti in the canteen confirms the facility’s security has been breached, Jez decides enough is enough. He resigns, little realising that his dash to leave the facility will bring him face to face with the ‘protestors’ – and a discovery that will throw new light on Doncaster’s experiments… Science Fiction. Foam It’s intelligent life – a reasoning intellect that could be the greatest discovery the world has ever seen. But it looks like a pile of foam. On a patch of waste ground. By the factory where Mick and Perry work as lathe operators. And as Mick realises his colleague doesn’t share his humanist ambitions for their discovery, the two set themselves on a course that will take them through excitement, amusement, danger, and ultimately a cheap source of packing material. Psychological Horror. The Right-Angled Cavern Exploring a hidden tunnel under a fallen tree while out walking in the woods, young couple Meg and Dillon find themselves in a dark, tomb-like room surrounded by stone shapes. But as their phones illuminate the crumbling Neolithic sculptures around them they realise the moss covered carvings are representations of a modern office – complete with desk, swivel chair and filing cabinet! And when Meg falls into a fever with visions of the woman sealed in the cave as a witch centuries ago, a desperate Dillon is thrown into a race against time to track down the apocalyptic office the carvings prophesised… Psychological Horror. Chasm Emotionally downsized potholer Noakes thinks he’s escaping from his grinding office job and bullying workmates when he sets off on a caving trip to Alum Pot in the Peak District. But even at the bottom of its deepest caves he’s not alone. The stories about mythical creatures that feed off wayward travellers’ fears are true. And while the insular Noakes travels alone, he’s bringing his work with him… Magic Realist Drama. Maplewood At a packed press conference, UK Minister for Culture John Maplewood announces that priceless relic the Bova Urn will be remaining in Britain. His speech is received with a mixture of jingoistic fervour from his own party and cries of outrage from the Spanish government it was originally borrowed from. But when the event is seemingly hijacked by the appearance of Maplewood’s mistress proclaiming her undying love for the flawed minister, it suddenly appears the pinnacle of his career will also turn out to be his epitaph. Except no one in the pace ked press conference has reacted to the woman’s proclamation. The assembled audience remain in rapt silence, and the two characters are left alone among the mute witnesses as the personal failure behind the crowning glory of his career is revealed… [email protected] 07815 500845 24 th January 2011
