December was a very busy
month for our lodge. The first Saturday of the month featured the 4th Annual Bobby Costa Memorial Toys for Tots Run and barbeque. A big thank you to all those motorcyclists and motorists who braved a very cold morning to travel to a few District 11 Lodges to gather toys and monetary donations for the less fortunate children in our area. Once again, we were honored to have several members of the Marine Corps and their families in attendance. Also, I want to thank Frank Sullivan, Ace Charlton, and Gordon Dockstader for manning the BBQ grill and all the volunteers who worked the kitchen, including Ed and Jeanne who were “newbies” at the serving table.
During the afternoon of December 12th, the lodge reverberated with the sounds of happy children greeting Santa
Claus. The jolly man in red made his way to the stage where he interviewed each child and handed them a gift. Our resident Santa (Craig Piker) was so convincing that the real Santa was labeled a fraud and banished to the North Pole until Craig is too old to reattached his long white beard (after each interview). Santa was assisted by a deranged elf, obviously employed through Rent-An-Elf, who has since disappeared – never to be seen again. Rose Duran, Alice Aikman, Rhonda Drake, and Sonny Charlton did a great job setting up the meeting room for the children and their families. Bill Jesus saved the day as the pizza runner and cleanup crew. Thank you all for making our annual Children’s Christmas Party such a happy affair.
On Sunday the 13th, the Ride-On organization held their company Christmas party at the
lodge. Although this was a private party, several lodge members arranged the meeting room, provided table decorations, and cooked and served lunch. Bill Jesus and Gordon Dockstader did a great job cooking the steaks. Everyone had a good time and the lodge benefited from hosting the brunch.
During February, a nominating committee will be formed to consider new applications for the 2010/2011 Board of Officers. Please give some serious thought to joining the Board and serving your lodge and the Moose Fraternity for a year (or longer). If you have questions about qualifications, responsibilities, meetings, etc., ask a current Board Member for clarification.
Fraternally yours,
Jack Byrne
Governor’s Message
Senior Regent’s Message Hello to all!
This has been a very busy month and it is soon to be 2010!
Toys For Tots was wonderful. Thank you for all who helped and went on the toy run!
The Children’s Christmas Party was really very nice. Santa and his Elf were really very good and the kids just loved it! In fact, I think we all loved it!
I will keep this note brief by saying Co-Workers and LOOM, we
need more volunteers to help out! Call me or the office if you would like to do a dinner, or if you have a suggestion! We are all in this to help with our children at Mooseheart and our seniors at Moosehaven!
Our support for our Troops (see page 10) is going very well! Please help where you can with this effort!
You see, we have been busy!
Please come out to support our lunches (Will’s, and Bob and
Larry’s), our dinners (Beach Burgers and Darts, Christianson’s, Ride-on, Lalo’s, etc.,) and our breakfasts (Gordon & the Moose Legion Crew, 31 Club, WOTM, etc.,). Please watch your calendars for the good food and fun!
Thank you all for your support!
Love and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, 2010!
God Bless our Troops,
Sr. Regent Alice
