SPECIFICATION FOR E X P A N S I O N TANK

1. Scope
This specification encompasses the design, fabrication and supply of one .Expansion Tank, complete with al1 necessary components (including supports insulation and connections) as specified herein and on the attached Data Sheet SK 1-1423-~-~6.
2. Genoral -- The Expansion Tank shall be a vertical, cylindrical pressure vessel, with torispherical heads, and is based on the "ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section 8 - UnPired Pressure Vesselsn. Notwithstanding this, the Contractor shall ensure that the supplied Expansion Tank, complies with al1 the applicable Dutoh Codes and Practices (stoom- wezen).

Construction
The tank shall be of an al1 welded construction in accordance with Part UW of $he ASME Code. Tank wal1 thickness shall be calculated using the formulae from paragraph UG-27 of the ASME Code, with a joint efficiency of not less thar 0.7 for al1 welds. The tliickness of the heads shall be calculated usilig the formulae from paragrapli UA-4 of Appendix I of the ASME Code. For design calculations the maximum allowable stress values in tension for materials specified shall be for a metal temperature range of - 2 0 O ~ to +650°~. Supports are required for insulation, 1 inch thick.

(b) Compressed air and soap suds test shall be perforrned on al1 reinforced nozzles. The
' reinforcing plate shall be prepared for this . test in accordance with paragraph UW-15 of the
ASME Code.

The expansion tank is subject to al1 regulations required by thc Dutch Stoomwezen Authorities. This involves the submission of detailed drawings and ' design calculations, prior to fabrication to the' local office of this Authority. It should be noted that mil1 certificates wil1 be required for al1 rnaterials, also welder certificates are required lor approval. Contractor shall be responsible for compliance with al1 aspects of procedure and requirements of the Dutch Stoomwezen Authority.
7. Finish
After al1 testing and inspection has satisfactorily been completed, the exterior supfaces shall be abras- ive blasted to bare metal in accordance with Swedish Standard SIS 06-59-00 to SA 3 finish, and imrnediately
. given one coat of an inorganic zinc primer, 3 mils dry film thickness.
8. Exc~ptions and Qualifications
Any aforementioned specified requirements for which Contractor wishes to deviate shall ba subject to the approval of the Engineer. . .
To an appropriate and accessible part of the tank, a stainless steel nameplate shall be affixed. In addition to any statuary requirements, the nameplate shall be in accordance with BP Standard 123/4/65 (9.9.1.).

1 General
The oxternal surface of the pipe sha.11 be treated as fellows:,
Surface preparation and priming. Flood coating with hot pipeline enamel, with glass fibro reinforcement pulled in and outerwrap pulled on.

2.2 The priming coat solution shall be supplied by the enamel manufacturer.
The priming'coat shall be applied in a continuous film as soon as possible after surface preparation.
. - Prepared surfaces shall not be left bare overnight . Before flood coating, the priming coat shall be dry and substantially free Irom solvents. '
Dust and other contaminants shall be removed.
Al1 welds shall be completely covered wit11 primer.
Primed areas showing sags, runs and drips shall be cleaned off and primed again.
The maximum dry film thickness of primer shall be 0.5 mm.
Tho priming .coat shall finish 50 mm. from the pipe en.ds.
Coating 2nd Wrapping . .
3.1 - The coating and wrapping shall consist of:-
A>:first flood coat of enamel~with glass fibre ' reinforcement pulled in. The glass fibre shall not contact the pipe surface.
A second flood coat of enamel with impregnated outer-wrap pulled on.
The glass fibre reinforcement and the outer- wrap shall be spiral wrapped with overlap nog less than 20 mm.; they shall be smooth and $'ree from wrinkles and fully bonded to the ename l.
Particular attention shall be paid to good bond and adequate film thickness at welds.
The coating and wrapping shall be given, a full coat ~f weather resistant whitewash.

Lines shall not be insulated until testing has been com-
pleted to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
Al1 lines to be cleaned of grease, dirt, rust and scale.
Carefui inspection to be carried out, before install-
ations of insulation to verify that pipes, supports etc.,
in the trenches have been correctly installed and spaced.
The pipe trenches shall be levelïed to provide minimum
clearance for insulation under pipes as recommended by
insulation supplier. Al1 surface water in formed pipe
trench to be removed before and during installation of
insulation. Al1 insulation shall be applied on a clean o
dry surface at a temperature above 5 C. Maximum tempera- O
ture of thermal oil in insulated lines is 1 6 0 C. The in-
sulation material and finishes shall be as follows:
i) Pre-formed rigid section of Cellular glass insula-
tion to the following thiciuies~/~i~e diameter ratio:

High temperature anti-abrasive coating shall be

Scope
This specification encompasses the fabrication, testing,
delivery and assembly of the stack for the thermal liquid
heaters.
Al1 in accordance with this specification, attached data
sheet SK H 423-M-81 and al1 applicable Dutch Codes and
practices (i.e. N.E.N. 3850 & N.E.N. 1055).
Vendor shall be responsible for the co-ordination bet~~een
sub-contractors and for the satisfactory fabrication of
the complete stack, suitable for erection on a concrete
base p?ovided by others.
2. Genera1
Vendor chall submit his structural calculations for the
stack to the Engineer for review and also obtain design
approval f r o m the local Authority before starting fabrica-
tion.
The vendor shall supply with his tender sufficient óasic
design and co-ordination data to enable a third party to
proceed immediately uith the design of the concrzte base,
on placement of an order for this stack. Th.e size of the
flue gas inlet to stack shall be verified at a later date.
