our programs are designed to inspire and educate families in Delaware about the importance of preventing child abuse before it ever happens.

In 2015/2016, PCAD has a goal to increase awareness and involvement in the following three programs.

steWArDs of ChilDren™

Every adult in Delaware should know how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The Stewards of Children Program is designed for organizations that serve youth and for individuals concerned about the safety of children.

Prevent Child Abuse Delaware and its partners have spearheaded the Stewards of Children project.

This project is a joint venture of many statewide groups working together to create safer communities for our children. The goal of this project is to reach a tipping point by educating approximately 35,000 adults (by 2016) and giving them the tools and knowledge they need to keep children safe.

a tasteful and nonthreatening manner and utilize age appropriate materials. Although best known for our PA Bear Program offered in Pre-K/Kindergarten, all school personal safety programs through fourth grade include topics such as good, bad, and secret touches; safe people; private places; safety rules; and interactive activities. All of the programs include follow- up materials that caregivers can use with their children to review what they learned.

olWeus Bullying Prevention ProgrAm

Nationally, 17% of students are bullied at some time during the school year. Given the right tools, bullying can be prevented, and addressed immediately by all students and adults in a school community.

Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is a bullying prevention program that targets the whole school environment (administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and students). The program seeks to educate the entire school community on what bullying is, who bullies, who are the victims, and what can be done to stop the bullying within the school climate. PCAD helps to coordinate and implement the program throughout schools in Delaware. The coordinator from PCAD is a Certified Olweus Trainer and is available to schools for phone consultations and for on-site visits.
