PineRidge News May 2020 Stop the Spread: We need YOUR help! The CDC has provided us with
recommendations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We all need to practice these so we all stay healthy!
Wash Your Hands Often
Avoid Close Contact - Social Distancing!
Cover Coughs and Sneezes
Clean frequently touched areas within your apartment
Stay In Your Apartment
Wear Your Masks Whenever You Leave Your Apartment
Avoid Online Coronavirus Scams: Please be aware of online coronavirus scams selling bogus products and providing false information on COVID-19 tests and treatments. If you believe you are the target of a scam, hang up the phone, write down the telephone number if possible and call Aleshia.
Stimulus Check Scams: There is a new trend where scammers are calling or emailing people claiming to need personal information in order to
send them their COVID-19 related Stimulus check. Do not give out your Social Security number, bank account number or anything else if someone claims such information is essential to sign you up for a
stimulus check relating to the coronavirus pandemic. None of this is needed. These are scams.
Census 2020 Safety: The Census Bureau or a legitimate census worker will never ask for your Social Security number, bank account number, credit card number, money or donations. They will never contact you on behalf of a political party. If you are asked for any of these, whether it be via phone,
mail, email or in person, it is a scam.

Congratulations!
Most of you have been introduced to Dominique Phillips, your new Housing Administrator.
She will officially begin here on Monday May 4th., so on behalf of myself and the associates of PineRidge, we want to welcome and congratulate her. She comes with much compassion and will bring new energy to this
place. Please welcome her with open arms and when we are able to socialize
again, you will fellowship together. I also want to thank you for welcoming me during the time of transition. You
have been more than gracious to me and for that I thank you! Stay safe, stay informed and be blessed!

We are all in this together In the mist of chaos there is opportunity. These difficult times are giving us the opportunity to look inward & reflect on what truly matters, connect with ourselves and our loved ones on a deeper level. Continue to stay strong, be encouraged, be kind! –Dominique Phillips, Housing Administrator
National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 7, 2020
Prayer transcends race and religion. It is a way to connect with God and our loved ones.
Pray for your family, neighbors, friends, healthcare professionals, first responders, essential workers, people affected by COVID-19, families of those affected by COVID-19, our town, our state, our nation and the world.
May is for Mothers!
“A mother is a protector, disciplinarian and friend. A mother is a selfless, loving human who must sacrifice many of their wants and needs for the wants and needs of their children. A mother works hard to make sure their child is equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to make it as a competent human being.” (taken from

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, aunts, godmothers and all the women who have played an
intricate role in the life of a child!
What "Mother" Means
"Mother" is such a simple word, But to me there’s meaning seldom heard.
For everything I am today, My mother’s love showed me the way.
I’ll love my mother all my days,
For enriching my life in so many ways. She set me straight and then set me free,
And that’s what the word "mother" means to me.
Thanks for being a wonderful mother, Mom!

May is Older Americans Month
May was deemed Older Americans Month. This is a time to acknowledge what older Americans have contributed to America. It is a blessing to be an older American. You have accomplished so much in your life. Take time to reflect on all the wonderful and amazing things you have done. Raising a
family is an accomplishment, working on the same job for years is an accomplishment, WHATEVER you have done in your life is an
accomplishment. We celebrate you!
“Aging is not ‘lost youth’ but a new stage of opportunity and strength.” –Betty Friedan
High Blood Pressure Education Month: While practicing social distancing many of us are eating and snacking more than usual while moving less. May is High Blood Pressure Education Month. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables while treating yourself every now and then. High blood pressure is often called the silent killer. You might not have symptoms, but it’s a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Monitor your own blood pressure to help you keep your blood pressure under control. If you have high blood pressure remember to take your medication as prescribed. Although we are practicing social distancing, if you are not feeling well it is important call your doctor.
During this time of social distancing, here are some ways to stay socially connected:
Learn New Technology
FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, Facebook…..There are online options to talk with
family and friends. And you don’t have to be tech-savvy. If you need
assistance we are a phone call away!
Go on a News Diet
Stay informed, but do not endlessly watch the news. Watching the news all
day can cause you needless anxiety. Watch the news in the morning, then
again at night.
Reach out to family and friends
Stay in touch with the people close to you, especially those who are social
distancing too. Call your neighbors; call your family; call your friends. Social
distancing does not mean social isolation! Now, more than ever, we need
to find ways to stay connected.
