1. THE RACE

The Pinasco Italian Ten Race will be 23 June 2018 on the International Circuit of Castelletto di Branduzzo (PV) – Italy, with the Endurance formula and 10 hours duration. It is organized with the support of ACSI – Settore Sportivo Nazionale Moto – Italia. All participants must have the Motori ACSI card.

1.1 THE CIRCUIT

The International Circuit of Castelletto di Branduzzo is 1.900 meters long and 10 meters large. It has 9 left curves, 7 right curves and a 350 meters straight, it runs anticlockwise.

2. CATEGORIES

Vespa and Lambretta scooters with 2 stroke engine and manual transmission are admitted to participate. Automatic en-gines are not permitted.

Categories and subcategories:

VESPA LARGE FRAME RPThe Frames that are defined Large are like the PX, TX, P, VNB, SPRINT, ETC. They can have any type of modification but they must have the original frame and the original 2 stroke crankcases. Crankcases must ALWAYS be Vespa (origi-nal or “NEW AGE”), the aftermarket engine crankcase similar to the original, that are permitted, are Pinasco, Malossi, LML or CNC are permitted if they are produced in series (min. 100 pieces) for open sale.

Permitted crankcases: Piaggio, Pinasco, Malossi, LML 2T, CNC or other brands but they must have compatible parts with original crankcases.

LAMBRETTA RPIn this case there is only one category for free preparation, crankcase and frame must be the original ones.

TECHNICAL APPEALSIndividual Appeal: each participating team/rider will be able to appeal to one or more participants of the same class/ca-tegory. If the appeal examination requires the dismantling of one or more components of the vehicle, the applicant first will have to deposit a sum by way of reimbursement of expenses/work. The deposit will be given back to the applicant if the results will be positive, in the other case the accused will receive the deposit.Amount of deposits (valid also for similar components)€ 150,00 – dismantling crankshaft€ 100,00 – dismantling thermal unit € 20,00 – dismantling carburetor € 20,00 – dismantling exhaust€ 50,00 – check other components

2.2 TECHNICAL SPECS

GENERAL ASPECTSIt’s possible to change the seat with another one non original.For your safety you must remove rear-view mirror, direction indicators and other protruding objects of the scooter.

TRIMMING OF FRAMEThe front fender can be cut (not more than 3 cm) but it mustn’t have sharp edges and it mustn’t be replaced with a sco-oter model but in plastic.

RIMSYou can set tubeless rims because they are safer for riders in case of puncture or explosion of wheels. The rims must have diameter not bigger than 10”.

TYRESIt’s possible to use tires for road use or the Slick ones for race, Tyrewarmers are not permitted.

SUSPENSION AND FORKUse and modification of forks are permitted only with mono-arm models.Suspensions replacement is permitted with racing models.

HANDLEBAR AND THE HANDLEBAR COVERThe handlebar must have a cover on the top; it will be checked during the technical verifications, also for its danger.

You must plug the holes of the odometers and light with soft materials (not metallic), to avoid dangers in case of loss during the race.You must remove the ignition key and install the pull switch.

BRAKE LEVERS AND CLUTCHBrake levers with safety ball at the far end.In case of loss and breakage they will have to be immediately replaced if the missing part is longer than 2.0 cm.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF ENGINESAll components must have been produced only for Vespa but they can be modified and lightened if they are safe for ri-ders and each other.

FLYWHEEL/STATOR GROUP, CONTROL UNIT, CYLINDER AND HEADAll components must have been produced only for Vespa, programmable control unit are not permitted, you can use ignitions with variable advance if they respect previous rules.

EXHAUSTIf the shape of the exhaust does not protrude from the frame, then you can use any model exhaust.

NOTICEThe organization and the technical assessment team set a decibel level limit, any scooter exceed this limit will not able to participate in the competition. During the race if exhaust breaks, the rider is obliged to return to the BOXES, otherwise he will receive a penalty.

DRILL THE FRAMEYou can drill the hoods and the shield but the distance between holes must be equal or larger than their diameter.It is allowed to cut the part of the frame numbers but it is advisable to keep the part of the numbers attached to the fra-me and/or folded for aesthetic reasons, as well as the battery support part on PX frames to get better access to the rear wheel.You have to use the front fender in all categories.

TANKIt is possible to use increased tanks and the use of tank caps specific for quick-fill containers. Craft or commercial tanks can be used, made of fiberglass or metal or other suitable material. They can be positioned in the original position or in the central part of the frame between the handlebars and the part of the rear body. They must not exceed 20 cm in width. They must be well fixed and must not show any leaks or possible leaks and must in any case be protected in the event of a fall. The use of tank sponge is recommended.

FRAMEYou mustn’t assemble central or lateral kickstand.You must assemble side hoods.

REFUELINGDuring the refueling, the scooter will have to be situated on a holder that can hold the vehicle without team’s help. You can use jerry-cans for a rapid refueling.

SCOOTER OR ENGINE CHANGEYou can change the engine or the scooter but you will receive a penalty (view penalty section). In both cases, both the engine and the scooter will have to pass a check before the race. You must notify the organization and the commissio-ners of the checks that you have a reserve engine, so that it will be duly stamped. During the course of the race, there will not be any check of engine or scooter.

2.3 TECHNICAL CHECKS

The technical checks will take place in a prepared area or in the BOXES (you will be informed before the race).If the scooter will not pass the technical checks, it can’t participate to the race. The check will be rigorous and incon-testable. The scooters that are not safe for the rider and the other participants can’t attend the race, for example, with protruding or sharp parts or which could be dispersed in the track.

NOT NECESSARY:• Spare wheel and storage compartments.• Kickstarter (if used it SHOULD NOT extend more than 2.0 cm from the width of the frame).• Front and rear lights.

• In the Large Frames is recommended the installation of a steel plate or similar material to protect the gear selector.

NECESSARY:• Fix the transponder in front of the scooter in a visible manner to prevent the loss, otherwise it will be returned at

the end of the race.• Install a power button which must be clearly signposted and visible.• You must have well fixed screw for the load and drain of oil. They must be fixed to the crankcase (for example

with a thin wire that passes through the head of the screws and is then fixed to the crankcase).• You must show up to the technical checks with all your personal safety equipment like motorcycle suit, helmet,

gloves, boots, refueling jerry-cans.• You have to show up all members of the team at the technical checks to give their personal badges.• All Riders’ equipment must be checked at the technical verifications but the riders’ presence isn’t necessary. Ho-

wever all riders should be present.• All riders must wear approved clothing and equipment, the next image shows how the motor suit and the equipment

must be.

We will give a lot of importance to security, for this reason equipment that is not approved or unsafe will not be accepted.

LEATHER SUIT WHOLE OR IN PIECES 2 / GLOVES / BOOTS / HELMET

LEATHER SUIT WHOLE OR IN PIECES 2 The motor suit must have protections on elbows, shoulders and knees. We will not accept leather suit that will not meet the minimum safety requirements.You can’t race with equipment different from leather suits or similar (including Cordura or Enduro equipment).The suit in two pieces must be fastened with a hinge joint and throughout the duration of the race.

GLOVESYou can use ONLY gloves that can guarantee minimum safety requirements: protection for the knuckles, material resi-stant to falls and scrapes and wrist protection.

BOOTSBoots must guarantee the same requirements of the gloves, they must be made only for racing use.

HELMETThe minimum safety requirements for the helmet must be, by European normativity, 04 but we recommend 05 and total protection.

Helmet label scheme allowed at the PITR 2016 (or USA approved)

A: E means Europe, the number indicates the country where was obtained approval (9-Spain, 1- Germany, 2-France, 3-Italy...)

B: It indicates the ECE version of directive approval. The 05 one is the safest.

C: Number of the helmet approval.

D: Safety of the helmet degree. P= complete protection. Helmet with N/P (no protective) will not be accepted.

E: Serial number.

CERTIFICATIONSIn order for a spare scooter to be entered into the competition, it must pass technical scrutineering before the race (see Penalties section).

A team may be disqualified if:• They object to technical scrutineering.• They behave in an unacceptable and/or derogatory manner towards the organization or its representatives.• They do not pass technical scrutineering.• Largeframe scooters must be presented at technical scrutineering without a spoiler to cover the cylinder.

The organization may conduct as many technical checks as they deem appropriate throughout the competition. If the or-ganization finds any abnormality or failure in any scooter, the team must resolve said issues before re-entering the track.

3. RIDERS AND TEAMS

Every team must consist of a minimum of one scooter, between three and five riders, plus a mechanic (optional). No more than 6 members of the team are permitted to enter the box area closest to the track, including the Team Mana-ger. Changing teams during the race is not allowed, and riders are not permitted to race with any scooter other than the one they registered with before the start of the race. When registering for the event teams should provide the following information:• Name of the team• Category/model of Vespa/Lambretta• Names, ID or Passport numbers and postal codes of the riders, mechanic and Team Manager• Mobile phone number• Email address• Report of the scooter’s equipment (Smallframe proto/Largeframe proto/SP1)• ACSI membership form (completely filled)• Medical certificate (of your own nation)

The scooter numbers must be placed in the following locations and visible to all: on the front of the scooter, on the left side and on the right side. The number must be visible at a distance of approx. 50 meters. It is essential that the scooter number is constructed in such a way that it will stay fastened into the scooter and visible throughout the entire event. No

scooter numbers will be awarded by the organization at this edition of the event, meaning every team must provide their own, taking into account the above specifications.

4. RIDERS’ EQUIPMENT While on the track, every rider must be equipped with: a certified full helmet, protective gloves specifically made for use on scooters or motorcycles, and racing overalls (see 2.3).The entire garment must be properly closed/fastened.In the event of bad weather, riders may wear waterproofs over the top of the aforementioned gear.It must be stressed that all of the aforementioned equipment specifications are in place for the safety of every rider, the-refore those items of gear which do not adhere to these regulations will not be accepted (see 2.3).

5. 6. BOX ASSIGNMENT The space for boxes is limited.The organization will assign boxes to teams taking into account their preferences for being together (this must be com-municated to the organization by email before the event).The boxes are set out in an ordered, linear format. Please take into account that only 6 people per box are permitted, and each person must wear his or her own entry pass/bracelet, otherwise the team will be penalized.Refueling will take place in a safe, communal area designated by the organization.

7. BRIEFING According to the schedule an informative briefing will take place on Friday 19.00 at the Press Hall. Attendance is man-datory for all team leaders since the information is very important for them. There will be a penalty for not attending the briefing.

8. ALLOCATION OF STARTING POSITIONS AND STARTING PRCEDURE The start of the race will be in ‘Le Mans’ style.

All scooters are organized in single file, side by side, and the positions of each team will be decided in the practice ses-sions before the race. Before starting the scooters will carry out a reconnaissance or sighting lap, at the end of which the riders will take their places, assigned by rank.If any team is missing at the starting point, their space will be left empty. Only 2 riders at a time are allowed on the track, one holding the scooter (with the engine running) and the other waiting to start.

The scooter may only be held by any rider in the team provided they are wearing full riders’ equipment, except for hel-met and gloves.

This can be any member of the team provided they are wearing the above equipment. If any team experiences problems with their scooter, they must go directly to their box as quickly as possible to resolve the issue and avoid delaying the start of the race. If the problems are resolved and the race has not yet started, the scooter may return to its place at the starting blocks. If not, the scooter must start from the pit-lane, only after all of the other participants have passed the main straight.

The start of the race will be indicated by the raising of a flag or the switching off of the light (this will be communicated in the briefing), after which the rider must run towards their scooter, mount, and start the race. The rider holding the scooter must have already placed it in gear.

If a rider is not in front of their scooter before the race starts, they will be penalized. The second rider will also be pena-lized should they enter the track with the intention of pushing the scooter (see Penalties section).

9. RIDERS’ BEHAVIOUR ON THE TRACK AND BLACK FLAG Any movement, either on the track or in the pit-lane, in which the scooter goes in the opposite direction to the race is prohibited.If oil or gasoline is leaked or spilled on the track, the rider must go directly to the pit-lane/box area until the issue has been resolved.In the case of a break down during the race, the plan which will be explained in the briefing will be put into action. This will involve removing the rider and scooter from the track provided it does not pose a risk to the rest of the participants.All riders who have had an accident and must tow the scooter to the appropriate exits must wear all safety equipment (helmet, gloves, overalls) until they leave the track. If not, they will be penalized with 5 penalty laps. Tow the scooter on the circuit is absolutely forbidden.In case of breakdown you must use the circuit external part. If you have to cross circuit you must wait race commissio-ners’ indications. If not, you will be penalized with 5 penalty laps.While on the track, any type of unsporting behavior such as shouting, hitting and any other unacceptable behavior is strictly prohibited. Any dangerous behavior will be penalized (see Penalties section).The Director of the race or his/her assistants may stop a scooter if the rider has committed an offence which carries a penalty for the team.If a black flag is shown to a rider/scooter, the rider must go directly to their box. The reason for the black flag will be com-municated to the team leader afterwards.During the course of the test, the penalties issued will be communicated to the teams every 30 minutes to one hour. These penalties will also be shown on the time screen.

10. BEHAVIOUR IN THE PIT-LANE The maximum speed in which riders may pass through the pit-lane is 20kmph.During the entire test, only authorized persons are allowed in the pit-lane (maximum 6 people per team).EVERY TEAM MUST HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHING IN THE BOXAnimals are not allowed.Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.Smoking is strictly prohibited, except in the designated areas of the circuit.The pit-lane must be clear of obstructions which may hinder the flow of riders, scooters or authorized personnel.Lighting fires and leaving gas canisters in the box and pit-lane areas is strictly prohibited.The pit-lane must be clear of materials and tools that may make it difficult to pass through, unless necessary work is being carried out on a scooter.If work on a scooter results in a spillage of liquid, oil or gasoline, the scooter may not leave the pit-lane until the affected area has been cleaned.Refueling and changing riders must be carried out in the designated zones.Every maintenance must be made in boxes.All teams must have at least one powder fire extinguisher in the box.Failure to adhere to the above regulations will result in a penalty (see Penalties section).

11. BEHAVIOUR IN THE BOXES While stopping in the box, the rider must switch off the engine of the scooter in order to carry out any type of work on it. Leaving the engine running is only permitted when carrying out small adjustments in the refueling area. If these regula-tions are not followed, the team will be subject to a penalty (see Penalties section). Unsuitable footwear, such as high-heeled shoes, is not permitted in the box area.

12. REFUELING The frequency of refueling is at the team’s own discretion.Refueling must be carried out in the area designated by the organization, never in the boxes. The organization will de-signate an area for leaving all canisters.The scooter’s engine must be switched off and only up to 4 people at any one time may refuel.- Refueling does not necessarily have to be carried out by only one rider. The use of a stand or support is obligatory

during refueling.

- Carrying out repairs is not permitted in the refueling area. - Changing riders during refueling is permitted.- Refueling by means of changing the fuel tank is prohibited.- THE EXTINGUISHER SHOULD BE AT THE REACH OF REFUELING RESPONSIBLES- The canisters used to provide fuel to the scooters must be watertight and certified in order to avoid fuel leakages

in the refueling area.The refueling area must be free of any materials other than those used for refueling such as the container and the sup-port. Once refueling is complete, all materials must be removed from the area.Failure to adhere to the above regulations will result in a penalty (see Penalties section).

13. RELAYS Relays are free, there aren’t minimum or maximum time limitation.Relays can be carried out in the refueling area or in the box.You must switch off scooter before relays.

14. RACE SUSPENSION (white flag and Safety Bike/Car) If any problem should occur on the track, the Director of the race may allow the Safety Car to enter the track. In this case the white flag will be shown throughout the circuit and all participants must follow in a queue behind the Safety Car. At this time, it is necessary to circulate without overtaking and with extreme caution. Overtaking is not permitted at any time while the Safety Car is on the track, every transgressions will result in a penalty of 5 laps. Once the Safety Car has left the track, normal race regulations will be resumed. Teams can refuel or change riders while the Safety Car is on the track but once the car is reached again, the rider must employ the above precautions while on the track since there may be ambulances or track attendants carrying out their work. In this case a speed superior than 30kmph will result in a penalty of 5 laps.

15. RACE INTERRUPTION (red flag) This is a resistance test and the intention is that, if possible, it does not stop under any circumstances. However, in case of force majeure, the Director of the race may interrupt the test.If the test were to be interrupted for reasons of force majeure, after 90% of the test had already been carried out, it would be considered to be complete. If the test were to have not yet reached 90% completion, the test would start over, with riders being assigned their starting positions according to their positions in the race.

16. END OF THE RACE When the 24 hours of the race are over, the Director of the race will show the chequered flag and the winner will be the scooter that has completed the most laps after completing the assigned penalties (if any).

17. FINAL RANKING The rankings by category will be awarded in order of laps completed (most to least) until the chequered flag is shown and once all penalties have been accounted for.If there are several scooters in the same category which have all finished with the same number of laps at the end of the test, the rankings will be ordered by the order in which the riders reached the finish line.

18. SUSPENSION OR POSTPONEMENT OF THE EVENT The organization reserves the right to suspend, postpone or reduce the event under exceptional circumstances, without the obligation of compensating the participants.

19. CLAIMS Any claim, whether sporting or technical, must be submitted in writing to the Director of the race.The deadline for submission of claims is 20 minutes after the end of the test.When submitting the claim, a deposit of 100€ must be enclosed. This deposit will not be returned if the case is resolved in a manner contrary to the claim.
