Babworth ChurchDatingbacktothe15th Century, All Saints ChurchinthequintessentiallyEnglishhamlet of Babworth, is the spiritual home oftheMayflowerPilgrims,theearlysettlersofPlymouth,Massachusetts.

The country lanes are lined with Evergreensburstingwithwildlife.Smallpathsandwindingtrackstakeyoutothelittlechurch,hiddenamongstsomeofthearea’soldesttrees.AllSaints Church is particularly special andisonetheprettiestsettingsinNorthNottinghamshire;itwasherethatpreacher Richard Clifton was Rector from1586to1605.The1950ssawthediscoveryofClifton’sceremonialChaliceand Geneva bible that were concealed awayinasealedcrypt.

This wonderful Church also houses the world-famousmousecarvings,byRobert(Mousey)Thompson,atreattofindastheyarehiddenamongstthehand-craftedfurnitureinthechancelandsanctuary.

This humble, yet very special Apple is settomakeitsmarkonBritishHeritageand culture, in commemoration of the MayflowerPilgrims.TheKingofallfruits,thebeautiful‘Pilgrim400’,isanew variety, discovered and cultivated by Nottinghamshirehorticulturalist,writerandpresenter,JohnStirland.

In2015,JohnStirlandhadtheideatocelebratetheMayflower400anniversaryinasignificantway.DuringhistimeasaBBCRadiogardeningadvisor,hediscoveredaseedlinginagardeninSouthwell,Nottinghamshire,thehomeof the Iconic Bramley Apple; which coincided with the development of a new commemorative‘Mayflower’appleinDevon.

ThePilgrim400isamultipurposevariety,with a deliciously sweet taste and a crunchy texture, perfect for all manner of culinarydelights,eithercookingoreating.

A number of these exquisite trees are to beplantedinvariouslocationsalongkeydestinationsoftheMayflowerPilgrimTrailandcanbeviewedonthistour.
