President’s Message March 2014
Will it come in like a lion, or a lamb? I'm
hoping for a lion! That way spring is sure
to be here sooner rather than later. And,
selfishly, I'd rather have nice weather as
we depart on our grand adventure on the
MAA road trip to Charlotte for the 50th
Anniversary Celebration in April. Admittedly, not much else is on my
mind in these some 34 days till dad and I head out for our trip.
Luckily Jerry Murphy has a fun Poker Run planned for us all and I'm
sure that will take my mind off my preparations for a fun filled after-
noon. See flier at the end of the newsletter.
There are lots of fun activities fast approaching, keep a look at the
club website for those events.
Tip of the Month
As dad and I had to resort to driving a non-mustang on the Sweet-
heart Cruise last month, batteries come to mind. Dad's battery
served him for 5+ years and decided to give out just 2 days prior to
the cruise. He did purchase another, but as the weather was not very
dry, he did not install it. No problem, we will just take one car, mine.
Skip to morning of the cruise and guess whose Mustang does not
start! Dad goes in the house to open up the garage to investigate. I
call out to him, "Lets just take another car". And we did. Turns out
the battery cables in my Shelby were loose. Check those out periodi-
cally. For some weird reason, they do come loose.

Guest Speaker Lance Lambert
We were entertained by Lance Lambert from the Vintage
Vehicle Show at our February club meeting. We heard
funny tails of stinky feet, late night sneak outs, and repur-
posing of vintage police sirens. These were just a few of the
stories Lance read from his new book, Fenders, Fins, and
Friends, Confessions of a Car Guy. Members also had the
opportunity to not only purchase a book or two, but to have
their already purchased books signed by Lance as well. If
you haven't got your book yet, they are available on Ama-
zon.com. Thanks Lance for sharing your stories with us.
