pages with adspages with out ads

We can see from the pie chart that there are a majority of full pages advertisements rather then half page and small advertisements.

We can also see that there are allot of advertisements in this magazine. The magazine is monthly therefore has more pages then a normal weekly magazine there are also more advertisements then a weekly magazine.

Page 3: Pie chart

1. The people who read mix mag magazine are aimed at clubbers and people that like dance music. DJ’s might also read this magazine as there are adverts to buy dj mixers and decks. The magazine is possibly targeted at a young adult audience as there are a lot of festivals and events advertised, young adults are more likely to go to these events then older adults or teenagers. The magazine is targeted at both genders as there are ads that will appeal to both genders. The audiences interests are most probably music Festivals and socializing as There where album promotions festivals promotions and mobile phone advertisements. The audience could be any race as long as they have interests in the music advertised. I would say this magazine is targeted at the explorer as the explorer lives for the moment much like the dance scene in raves and clubs. The explorer explores for discovery of new things.

2. The target audience most probably have a lot of disposable income as they only have to support themselves they probably do not have children and may only have to pay rent however may still live with parents. If the young adults only have to worry about themselves they will have a fair amount of disposable money to spend on their choice of lifestyle. There are 78 pages with ads and 33 with ads this could suggest that the magazine are targeting people with a lot of disposable income as there are a lot of adverts in the magazine its self.

3. The target audience read this magazine and have interests in the music and festivals advertised. The magazine writers know that advertising a festival is effective as the people reading it have money and love that genre of music.

4. The person I can assume reads this magazine are people who enjoy dance music and the party lifestyle. One of the two paged advertisements was selling dj mixers, from this I can infer djs may also read this magazine. There was also phone advertisements advertising new expensive smart phones, this could suggest that the audience have money to spend on these items and are probably young. The magazine can be read by both genders however some advertisements are directed at the male audience.

This is another magazine I analysed

We can see from the pie chart that the majority of the adverts are full page adverts as big franchises will want their product to be on the front page especially or if not taking up a full page as it catches the eye of the reader. Then half page and quarter page takes up 50% (25%) being the second most. And small adverts takes up the least amount of pages of 13%

The majority of adverts are clothing adverts as we can see from the pie chart that 38%. Then competition and bathroom essentials are the majority of advertisements meaning they make up 50% of advertisements(25% each) Then lastly Gaming is 13%.

Page 6: Pie chart

1. The evidence suggests that the people reading this magazine are mainly young people and majority being girls as they have adverts for handbags(clothing) perfumes(bathroom essentials) but also they have gaming adverts (games for PS3) which arguably people would say the majority of game players are male so maybe this magazine is also aimed at boys as well as girls even if the majority of readers are girls.

2. They have priced their magazine at a lower price than allot of rival magazines as they realise that they are trying to attract mainly 16 year old girls and under however the magazine is not cheap so it may have been priced at the in-between stage in hopes that parents will pay for the kids who cannot afford it and its the right price for the kids who can afford it.

3. It provides mainly escapism as people may go of into their own world when reading this and as it is aimed at student schoolgirls they may be escaping the pressures of exams.

4. The type of people reading it are young girls and the advertising backs it up as all adverts except 2 are things aimed only at girls and majority are especially younger girls

Through my advert analysis i can see that majority of the adverts are promotions and dance related adverts for clubs and equipment. This shows that when i make my magazine i need to include ads that are appropriate to my target audience ads also should take up about a quarter of the magazine on average.
