3. Science and Pseudoscience

  • III.What is Science?
    • A.Definition ultimately depends on your worldview
    • B.Science refers to any body of knowledge gained from observing the natural world as well as the activities involved in acquiring scientific knowledge

4. Science and Pseudoscience

  • II.Types of False Science
    • A.Phenomenon anything that mankind can perceive, whether it is proven to be real or imaginary
    • B.Prejudice a personal bias formed without examining the facts of the case or with no knowledge of the issue

6. Science and Pseudoscience

  • New theories are tested against previously acquired facts
  • Theories are falsifiable no principle is safe from being proven false by new information
  • That which is studied must be observable, either directly or indirectly, and can be measured or described
  • Concepts can be expressed as mathematical relationships
  • A phenomenon can be properly studied only if it can be repeatedly observed in some way
  • The facts are analyzed and theories are made objectively
  • Reports are not published until they have been reviewed by other workers trained and familiar with the research

  • IV.Objectivity

  • VI.True Science
    • A.Defined by the ultimate purpose for which the knowledge is gained and the use to which it is put
    • B.Romans 1:21-22
