What is Force?

F= ma

F=force

m=mass

a=acceleration

Example:

Figure 1

If forward force is greater than Friction force,

Car will accelerate in the forward direction.

Newton First Law

= 0

If a body has different forces acting on it (F1, F2.), it will have a constant motion if sum of all the

Forces is equal to zero.

Back to our example figure 1,

If Forward force = Friction force

It will have a constant velocity. (no acceleration)

If Friction is Greater than Forward Force

The car will accelerate backward, therefore it will slow down, and eventually it will stop.
