- It is defined as the intentional use of physical force with the potential for
causing death, disability, injury, or physical harm.
- It can result in mental, physical, sexual and many other health problems.
- Femicide is a term given to the murder of women based on the gender
inequalities in the society.
- Female Genital Mutilation is the procedure of removing part or all of the
female genitalia or female genital organs for non-medical purposes.

- Women are protected from domestic abuse under the “Protection of Women
From Domestic Violence Act”.
- A crime against a woman is committed every three minutes.
- A dowry death occurs every 77 minutes.
- 34% of married women say that they have been slapped by their husbands.
- 16% of never married women say that they have experienced physical
violence since the age of 15.
